Colorado backpacking trip

WELL, I feel like an ass now for saying anything about the gear list question.

I'm with Joe, and I think we pretty much speak for the group on this when we say rookies won't impede. Heck, I'm no salty, experienced mountain man and it seems like I'm always learning something about how to be more efficient out there.

So, no takers on a Rokslide Holiday Inn conference?

INFORMATION UPDATE!!

Date: May 31st - June 2nd - Seems to work for the vast majority. I'm sorry for the ones who can't make this date. I'm good for another trip some time again to get everyone out.
Time: Meet up in the morning (8am-11am) to hike in on the 31st. Exact time TBD (depends on how far we are going)
Location: TBD - Couple places are in mind but really depends on the snow melt. I will PM everyone who is going so everyone is tracking when we get an exact location

Gear List: TIPIS - Weather Dependent if we take these or if everyone takes their own shelter. I will update the week prior

Here is what I would normal pack and I'm sure it’s close to everyone else:
DT1/Duplex or DT2/Bikini
Trekking Poles
Kifaru Tarp
Slick 20*
Exped UL7
Exped Air Pillow
Bugaboo Bivy
Gaitors – maybe, weather dependent
Wool underwear x1 in pack
Wool socks x1 in pack
Beanie
Light Gloves
Jacket
Spacelight rain jacket- maybe
Crocs
MSR Pocket Rocket/Ti Cup
Titanium Spork
Dromlite 2L/w Hose - FILLED
Dromedary 6L - Empty

Hygiene – wet wipes, toothbrush
Headlamp
Binoculars – maybe
2 Mountain House Meals
2 Ziplocks with day snacks
2 Endorush
Camera
Then of course whatever I’m wearing in

I will just need directions to trailhead of wherever we are going. Also im coming from Laramie so it is about 2 hours to 25 & 76 intersection. I can leave whenever. I just need to plan for the drive.

No worries. I'd be in but that weekend is my wife's birthday and I promised I would take her camping. I'm sure you guys will have a great time.

Sounds good on the scouting trip. I've got a new area I've been wanting to check out anyhow and planned on going sometime in June.

Damn I wanted to go but I am heading out for a week long camping trip on the 31st with the Wife and some buddies.
Maybe next time.

sounds like it should be fun. I was watching the dates, but this one won't line up for me. next time.

Time off with work confirmed. Looking forward to a getaway.

Was really doing good with working out + pavement hikes until mother nature decided to take crap. But working hard to not be "that guy" that all of us new guys are afraid to be. :D

Haven't seen anything on this in a while. We still on and any ideas about location? Looks like I may need to buy some snow shoes. :)

*** Edit: Ok. sorry I forgot about the update a week prior comment. My bad... Just looking forward to this.

Everything is still a go, but trail has not been picked out yet. Hoping a bit more snow melts off and we can access a couple more areas.

So who all is still going? Should we move the dates or are we keeping these?

One a side note, the Colorado trip is getting its ass kicked by other states!!! If we only get a few guys to go, I'm moving out of this freaking state! :)

I am still in. last I heard the dates were May 31 - June 2. I was going to head out someplace this weekend but started cleaning the barn, something that needed done. good thing is I found all my Dad's fishing gear that the wife and kids moved.

I am in still and looking forward to it. We are also representing the WY contingent here too. That should count for extra points. :-)

If there's a small miracle at Kifaru and my BT2 ships 2 weeks early I'm in, otherwise I'll have to wait till next time.

You don't have another pack? I should have two packs at that time so I could let you use one if you want to go. Hopefully we are close in size tho for the belt

Armyjoe I appreciate the offer and I would like to go, I have a 36" waist if that helps. This is my first year backpacking so I've had to do a major gear overhaul. My current pack is a Badlands Diablo it's just too small for all my gear.

Well unfortunately my Kifaru belt is a small and won't fit you. However I do have a military long range recon bag that is made by Arc'teryx and would definitely fit you. Its just a tad on the heavy side but it would be no issue for the weekend trip

Well I looked and I have a medium
Belt too that will fit you. So if i get my other frame by then you can use my duplex/DT2. If I don't get it by then I got that military pack for you. Don't worry buddy there are enough of us on here with gear so you can make the trip
