Colorado backpacking trip

Turkeys have unbelievable vision. I like to have stuff in front of me to breakup. Of course everyone does it differently. I like to be in the treeline if possible sitting against a tree or with brush in front of me. In ohio I had a hen stare at me from 15 yards and then went ape sht crazy when I blinked my eyes.. I learned to put camo makeup on my eyelids. Granted my experience is only from doing this in woods and not quite as open as around here.

I am up for another outing however weekend of may 25 is out for me.
Have new pack and bag so I should be more comfortable this time.
(else I get to spend more money on another sleeping bag)

X2 on the gear list.

Hey guys. The backpacking thing sounds great, but I have another idea: how about Holiday Inn? We could hang out in the lobby and talk about backpacking instead! Somebody bring the coups for BK! [Dane Cook reference] I'll bring Yahtzee! There's an indoor pool, too, so bring your trunks! C'mon, it'll be awesome!

Seriously though, I can probably pull this one off. Not Holiday Inn, the backpacking part... not really... but really.

Ok, for real, I'm pretty sure I can get clearance from the wife for this. As long as I get my chores done and I get my chain of command to approve a 72.

Also, I might be missing something but what's up with the concern over a gear list? If you've backpacked before you should pretty much know what to expect... unless I'm missing some critical piece of info. I'm no expert in this stuff either, so if I'm an idiot somebody let me know.

Maybe if Dish buys my company It'll force my wife to move, wish I could attend but on a positive note we'll be in the mountains in a few weeks even if it is a family vacation.

Pilgrim - In my case I ask about gear as I tend to bring more than what is needed, Plus I usually have a horse in tow to carry most of it.

I have found in the past the new guys that bring more crap then what is needed tends to impede the groups progress.
Kind of like the guy on the TV commercials in a suite trying to be Mr. outdoors …. Don’t be want to be that guy

By no means am I a rookie to the outdoors.. just moving into an area where I question what I am bringing.

How ya been, coOverwatch! I was out there with y'all in February, hopefully we'll cross paths again. I wasn't trying to imply anyone was a rookie, sorry it came off that way. I talked to armyjoe today and got some clarification on that. I guess depending on how many people go, we might just group in a tipi or two so we don't all have to bring our own shelter. Also, with a little local intel, you may not need to bring a water filter, aquamira tablets may be all that's necessary.

Also, I may be down for renting space on a horse!

Pilgrim – you didn’t come across that way. It is nice to have someone/something carry your stuff in for you.. but horses add a whole new dynamic to the outing.
I have heard of people organizing outings and doing a gear check before heading out to insure that everyone has what the organizer thinks they need. Mind you not from this site.
I enjoyed our February outing. I have geared up with a new pack and sleep system so I should be more comfortable this time out.
Just trying to figure out what else i can spend my money on so i don't have to give it to the tax man.

Ok boys and girls. I'm the only one who has thrown out a date. Does May 24-26 work for you or if it doesn't throw out a date that will and we will vote on it. We want everyone on the same page here

24-26 is Memorial Day weekend, but I should be able to head out. The last weekend in May is a no go for sure. Already have a camping trip planned with the wife and daughter for my wife's birthday.

WOW!! I totally F'd my dates up haha. I thought Memorial Day weekend was the following weekend 31-3

I have the 24-27th off then. Got a 4 day pass for the holiday. I'm good to go that weekend or any time really.

I am also good for the next weekend in June 7-9 I am out for mem.

We have dates all over the board. I'm free whenever and starting June 1st I'm in the mountains every weekend anyways, so whatever date we ALL can do will be good for me

im definately a rookie thats why i ask about gear. i didnt want to impede the group evidently like whats happened in the past. i would rather prepare than cause problems.
pilgrim, what part of mo, we just moved here 4 mos ago from the northeast part.

Being a rookie wont impede at all man. Just glad your getting out and coming with us.

I will post a gear list this afternoon for you to help out. If you have any questions on it or just have more questions you can give me a call too if that's easier. 480-326-9009.
