Colorado backpacking trip

Well I looked and I have a medium
Belt too that will fit you. So if i get my other frame by then you can use my duplex/DT2. If I don't get it by then I got that military pack for you. Don't worry buddy there are enough of us on here with gear so you can make the trip

That sounds good. I'm not worried about which pack it is I'd just like to get out there with everybody. If you guys are training at all this week I'll try to make it one day so we can meet. Most mornings are just tough for me with my work schedule but I should have a coupe free mornings this week.

I'm still in and looking forward to it.

Planning to use my bivy unless someone wants to split up a 4-Man Tipi. Can't wait to get my SuperTarp for early season trips but will not have it till July.

Lost Creek Wilderness Report: Just got back today from three days in Lost Creek Wilderness. Backpacked up Wigwam Creek and caught some tiny brookies. Some snow and ice still remaining near the headwaters of Wigwam Creek. We did a day hike into East Lost Park but there was a fair amount of snow and no open water yet for fishing. Then backpacked over the pass and down into Goose Creek. Hardly any snow in Goose Creek drainage. Lost Creek Wilderness is usually pretty dry by early June but also hot for hiking. Hoping something higher opens up for the Rokslide trip.

Hello all,

I am interested in joining this trip, shouldn't be too tough to get the time off work. Just a question about the estimated mileage we would be looking to do. May try to convince the better half to come along, but need to make sure she can handle it. I'm fine with any distance if it's just me. Can't wait to try out my new ultralight setup that I've been tweaking all winter long, waiting for the snow to melt...

Depending on what trail its looking like 2.7 to 4 miles. Nothing to crazy or difficult

Sounds like fun! If I hadn't just had shoulder surgery I will be in. If there is another one later in the summer I will try to do that one for sure.

Crzytrekker are you one of the backpackers in the video posted on the Tenkara FB page?

Still interested in this trip but I may not be able to leave that early on Friday. I may need to hike in a tad bit later. Since I know I would be the slow guy(or that guy) I was going to suggest you folks tell me where camp would be and then I could meet you there.

What time are you thinking on Friday? I think we prob wont leave until 10-12. Don't worry at all about the speed of the hike. Its going to be nice and easy going.

Not 100% sure about the exact location in the mountain so would hate for you to try and find us Haha.

armyjoe it is looking like I may not be able to leave Colo Spgs till about 12(may need to cover for a co worker trying to get to a graduation in TX). If we decide on a trail and an approx distance I should be able find you(a few pieces of flagging tape may help).

I will know for sure if I need to cover on Tuesday. I'll touch base with you then.

Armyjoe. I will be coming from laramie and I don't know the denver area very well so directions on where to meet would be great. That way I can get a good departure time too.

My cell is 307 399-6544 if it would be easier over phone.

Curtis - That's my video. I'm the guy making hot cocoa in the bivy bag. :) I want to film a hunt this year and that was my first attempt at backcountry video.

I am debating what shelter to bring. I just sold off a couple older shelters so my choices are kinda limited until July when I take delivery of a SuperTarp. I still have a 4-Man Tipi and a bivy bag. If anyone wants to share a 4-Man Tipi let me know. Otherwise, I'll go light and bring my Integral Designs bivy.

Will we be able to do any stream or lake fishing on this trip?

Im headed up to the area to check out snow levels still so by tuesday should be 95% set on a trail . Curtis - just let me know if you will be late and we will make it work man
Crumy - got your number and will call you to go thru everything and easiest way to get there
czytrekker - once I know where we will be I will post if there is any fishable streams nearby

With the melt going slower then I thought we might end up at a lower elevation then originally planned.

thanks for keeping things moving Joe. wish I new you were heading out I would have asked if you wanted some company. took a walk about above Breckenridge yesterday. still some snow up high and rivers/streams are running a bit fast. did manage to catch one fish though. (also, to damn many people!):(

I am also going to be heading out later on Friday, after work, they gave us a 4 day weekend for memorial day. So it wouldn't be good form to ask for Friday off ... Would probably be hiking partway in the dark and meeting at camp. So a few pieces of flagging and an approximate campsite would be helpful to me as well. Once the exact trail has been selected a post would be great for us late arrivals. Thanks and looking forward to it.

Wish I could make it and add KS to the list but just got home from CO. I'll keep watching for trip dates and flight prices.

Hey guys. Aron is finally back and him and I have had a few talks about the trip and info will be put out tonight about : time, location etc...

The guys who are coming later on Friday. The trail and trail head are easy to find BUT I will put up some flag tape for you guys to help any issues.

Hey Guys,

Let's all meet up at the top of Kanosha pass at 1PM Friday. This will give us plenty of time to get camp together, fire built and so on.

I'm thinking big daddy Patrick Smith will be joining as well, so he'll probably have the new stoves with him. We'll probably bring a 12 man tipi, but I will confirm that tomorrow.

Post away with questions.
