This is probably in response to the boy that was killed by the Minnesota hunter here in 2015, got thrown in jail last year. Orange won't stop poor gun safety, the guy didn't identify his target before he shot.

Poor gun safety has nothing to do with archery hunting. Here's the kicker......only hunters with a valid tag have to wear orange now during ML and rifle seasons. Nature lovers, hikers, and everyone else can be out and about wearing deer suits if they want. IMO when I buy my tag, I'm essentially taking all the risks associated with that on my own shoulders.....regardless of what I'm wearing or doing. Here's the government trying to protect us all again instead of letting us all take care of ourselves.

plus i have another good idea, get rid of the muzzleloader season inside the archery season too.. Colorado has a issues other western states dont have, when i hunt in wyo and mt and NM when i run into people their usually hunters, or cowboys. In colorado, your gonna run into alot of hikers and backpackers too. Our lands get used far more then other states public lands.

Maybe I'm misreading this but in Colo do bowhunters have to wear orange during the week of ML? I thought they did not.

You want the ML season to leave the archery season?

Be prepared to lose a week [or more] of archery season then.
Be careful what you wish for.

No.
5MiBack was referring to that anyone that has a ML license or Rifle license has to wear orange.

Or maybe cancel archery season during the short ML season. I think it's funny how some people feel archery season is entitled to Sep. Archery has the longest season in CO it could handle losing 8 days 🙀

Maybe even go a tad further, maybe archery should be discontinued in areas that have the Sep bear rifle season as well.

I've been know to have an archery and ML tag or an archery and rifle tag on the same hunt. Heck where I hunt it would be easy to get an archery, ml and rifle tag that I can hunt on all in the same window of time and I think it's great to have options.

I agree I won't try and rock the boat much early archery sucks. Based on number of tags sold muzzleloader will have a much smaller voice

No reason to lose a week of archery. There's always at least 2-3 weeks between archery and first rifle. The week after archery is WIDE open to put in a ML season. Or give them the first week of archery and we'll take that week after the current season. Lots of options that solve the problems. I still haven't seen or met a ML hunter in the field that even hunts the ML season like it's the rut anyway. They all seem to hunt it just like a rifle season.

The 'dead time' between archery and 1st Rifle is off limits.
This has been proposed many times.

But the CPW did open the door on that time when they created the new rifle season last year for 61.
But other 61 seasons tag allotments took the hit to fund those tags.

The CO archery season isnt any longer than Wyoming's, and in WY there isnt a ML season - at all.

See you assume all are elk hunting. I only archery hunt elk but I'll ML hunt bear and deer.

I guess I find it funny most don't like the ML season but yet most never see a ML hunter. There are very few tags given out in a very large area. I'm fine with it staying the way it is, but I'd rather wear orange when archery hunting then lose possible hunting options.

I think they should start the archery season a week earlier and give the ML hunters the last week of September. I'm sure not everyone would love that idea but I'd love to see the two seasons separated. Still haven't figured out why archery hunters get a whole month while other weapon hunts are only a week? Take away the blaze orange requirements for ML season too!
