From what I understand, to buy a point only for a non-resident youth it is only $3 per species??

Is this for all species including sheep/goat/moose?

Are there any other fees or licensing or upfront tag costs required?

I've looked through the regs and can't find much.. Only good info I've been able to find is in Huntin Fool...

They also have a preference point fee of $40 per species. However, if you buy a small game hunting or fishing license for $56 and a habitat stamp for $10 then you don't have to pay the preference point fee. So in short of you apply for several species it saves you money, if you only apply for one it doesn't. Hope this helps.

You have to pay the entire tag cost up front, then you get refunded everything except the $3 per species. Then there's that new $40 PP fee as described above. For NR sheep, moose, and goat, you can't apply online, you have to send a check.

Keep in mind that is a license the year PRIOR so plan ahead if you're pursing this route. My first year in CO I got hit with a pronghorn preference point fee when I didn't draw even though I did draw an elk and deer tag because I didn't have anything the year prior.

No. To not have to pay the $40 per species you have to have a license the prior year. It can also be a fishing license I thought.

Ya, there's a lot of stuff that youth are exempt from like the Habitat stamp. Wasn't sure about the PP fee as it's new and doesn't affect us anyway. But you still have to pay the tag cost up front.

So from what it looks like, for Youth Elk, Deer, and Antelope you only have to pay the Youth Tag fee upfront ($103.75 each) and you get it all back minus $3 each. $9 for 3 points ain't bad!
