The unit I'm looking at for elk archery I can get 2nd choice with marginal success (~50%). They also offer a gun bear season during bow season. Does the group draw allow multiple species to be listed for different people?

Can I put it as my archery elk second choice and enter group draw with my brother in law and he have the same unit as his bear first choice? If I'm not selected second choice for that unit will he not be selected first choice? Or do we have to fill out our choices identical? I want my point from not being drawn first choice but he'll need to draw the bear tag first choice for that unit.

If my backup plan is an OTC elk tag can he put that unit as his second choice for the bear tag and get it (statistics aside) without me getting anything on my first and second choices (third fourth etc)?

Is our best bet applying separately? I guess we can turn down the tag? Can you turn down a first choice?

Also non group draw related but draw related. If you fill out your app with the preference point code for all choices do you still pay the full price for elk tag up front? A buddy can't go with us but I want him to keep up in points for future use

Each species hunt code is seperate. Bear has nothing to do with elk in other words. You can be in a group for elk draw and not for bear. You could draw elk for unit x and a bear tag in unit y. You can turn in a first choice tag. You have better odds of SOMEBODY getting a tag not drawing as a group, but not better chances of all drawing, when going in as a group, you all go through the draw just like you weren't in as a group, if you all draw then tags are issued, if one of you doesn't draw then none of you will get a tag. Not sure about your last question anymore, just have him get online and try, it will list out all the prices before you have to pay. Think I covered it all.

You have to pay the tag price even for a point, but I think you can pay the lower cow tag price if I'm not mistaken. There's also a PP fee if only applying for points and they didn't have any type of license last year.
