The Governor could appoint anti-hunting activists to the “parks and outdoor recreation” seats further diluting the votes of the sportsmen seats. That is what is taking place now. Governor Polis appoints anti-hunting activists to the parks, outdoor recreation, at-large, and non-consumptive user seats. That gives them a significant voting bloc when a contentious issue like trapping, mountain lion hunting, etc comes up for a vote. Which is why Silva Blayney’s recent appointment as the guide/outfitter representative is so dangerous with her history of anti-hunting advocacy and leading role as a “super-volunteer” with Colorado Sierra Club. Colorado sportsmen and women have to push back on her and Emerick’s appointments when they come up for vote in the state senate.
