Sheriff out here in New Mexico told me that 412 and 87 going out of Clayton will be closed for 24 to 48 hours a little bit ago. That most likely will be the same for Raton pass. Looks like I'll either be back tracking south to tucumcari and driving up through Santa Fe or maybe go up to Lamar and then over.Looks like any route I would take is closed. I won't be getting to Colorado for another 10 days, so things are apt to change between now and then.
I'm going to look into other options myself. I'm headed to Monte Vista, so I could come up through Chama if needed. I've driven home that way before.Sheriff out here in New Mexico told me that 412 and 87 going out of Clayton will be closed for 24 to 48 hours a little bit ago. My son has an elk tag. I gotta hide him from those elk til I get a deer down.Anybody that has an elk tag…just drive around, they’re out in full force! I bet I saw 1000 today. I saw 5 deer.
I'm keeping an eye on the roads myself. Raton pass and I25 in general doesn't look too good.
Yeah I woke up to 6 more inches at least in Clayton, NM and it was still coming down pretty good. Just back tracked to I-40 and it's much better down here. I would avoid NE new Mexico and eastern Colorado. Might be Sunday before they dig out.
I'm leaving late tonight from NW Iowa. Going through Nebraska and through Colorado on I80. I appreciate any road/weather updates.
That heat wave depends on how much chili you ate last night hahaI'm hoping for a heat wave around 0500 lasting until 0530 for my morning dump, then it can do whatever it wants for elk killing time.
