That's my cimmaron in the background, I have to say that sawtooth was crazy and I do wonder if he has subpar material/Kifaru got a bad batch.

For those using these, any problem with rodents/snakes making their way into your living quarters?

In the photos above, I had pitched right on top of some mouse/vole trails in the grass. One night, I had one making a bit of a ruckus moving under the ground sheet I had under my pad. Other than that, I didn't have any issues.

All the more reason these manufacturers should have adjustable guylines installed before they leave the factory.

I am debating on the Cimarron or the Radcliff for me and my boys. Granted they are years from going hunting but I need backcountry shelter now for solo or 2 people but would would like to be able to use what ever I get when the kids get older. How cramped will the Cimarron be regularly with 3? Or how many actually pack the Radcliff for solo or for 2?

You better have two shelters at this point.I use my 4 man for hunting with gear or familiy camping and an Lbo for solo or two with minimal gear. Each shelters have his own stove too.

i camped in snow this past weekend and my sawtooth didnt sag at all. we set it up when it was maybe 35 out and it got cold cold at night. of course thats not as big of a swing as hot summer day to frost but still. the only sag we got was from using the clothesline which of course is going to happen.

Following this thread, looking at the redcliff hard, there will be four of us for a backcountry elk hunt this year, from the looks of things there will be enough room for us to sleep in it but I should plan on a tarp to put our gear under?

I have had 4 + gear + stove + fuel in my Redcliff on a few occasions and what I did was had 3 sleep parallel to the doors with their heads toward the center pole on the off-stove side while I slept perpendicular to the doors on the other side with gear and fuel stacked next to me. These were on overnight approaches to other camps and on another occasion that two tents in our party got destroyed by high winds. It would be snung on an extended trip so I would plan on a ground cloth or two for a gear cache of nonessential stuff outside the tent for longer trips.

Would the redcliffe be a good choice for a northern Idaho backcountry spring bear hunt? What type of shelters work up the?

My friend has a 6 man tipi that we use out here (North Carolina/Virginia) and until the winter cold comes in, yes bugs are an issue. He has the "bug screen" put in, but as you know the bugs down here are tenacious and they would still get in. The easiest answer to this is buying either a nest or bivy screen (OR makes a nice one).

Iv never seen one person, but the footprint looks big. Your going to have the same issues of finding flat spots big enough for it but that is going to be anywhere. I think it would work good just might spend a little more time looking for the right camping spot. Tipi / stove for spring bear in wet north Idaho is a great idea though.

Exact reason I went with the cimarron. Love the size/weight of the Redcliffe but thought I might have a hard time finding a suitable camp spot.
