Looking for input on whether I should go with Kuiu Chugach or the Kutana. Mostly archery hunting, deer and turkeys in not super brushy terrain, and not a ton of rain but when it does it pours. Thanks!

I've worn the Chugach around Colorado and Wyoming. Kept me dry, reasonably light to carry, breathes OK to move around in. Have not worn any holes into it yet in the 3 years I've owned it. Haven't seen the Kutana rain gear but have the soft shell. That has shed some light rain very well and rubbing up against cholla cactus hasn't done any damage yet, but only worn it afield 3 days so far.

i have the CHUGACH NX and I have the Yukon, they both have some noise to them. i have hunted in the yukon and have had no issues, you just have to know how to move. The yukon is a super nice jacket, i would get that over either if you want a hunting rain jacket. I got a solid color chugach, i just wear it as a non hunting rain jacket, it is super comfortable, a lot of stretch, and thinner than the Yukon.

Chugach is definitely your backpack style active hunting rainwear, breathes better but will protect you in a monsoon just fine. Packs down a lot better as well. I'm pretty bad with my gear and have only ripped them falling on a sharp rock.

Kutana is definitely more sedentary hunting in winds or storms and would bust through any brush. Definitely an edge to wind protection. It's also a more athletic cut and the jacket is cut a bit longer. The face fabric is thick, nice heavy-duty nylon feel to it.

My advice, just get both of the jackets in a couple of sizes from Kuiu, keep the one you like.

I've used the Chugach set for about 5 years now. As others have stated, it packs down pretty well and does a good job of breathing while hiking. I've used it for backpacking and all rifle seasons. Looking back I wish I would have gotten them in a solid color to wear around town as well. I'e got no complaints.

Just giving this thread a bump. Looking into a new set of rain gear . I think i will just order the chugach and kutana to compare but am looking for any first hand experience between the 2. Thanks!
