Chinese tipi tents (argali & peax?)

OP: Brad (Argali) has explained in the past why he gets his products from Vietnam. I can't find the exact post but it has to do with the lack of sewing manufacturing currently in the US. I think Seek does all their manufacturing in house. I am not saying I wouldn't prefer them to be USA made like Seek or Final Rise does but I also get it as someone who is very familiar with the Cut and sew manufacturing process.
Hmm, seems like a great business statement from Brad that I just can’t behind. Argali is based out of Boise, look at population comparatively to Heber City (Final Rise) and Grand Junction (Seek outside).

Tons of them, but most pertinent to this discussion...Argali doesnt
Argali also came in as an influencer, that’s how I discovered him. Watched a lot of videos of him when he first started posting, and also Brian call & Lampers..they were all rocking SO shelters. Just to make sure I’m not going crazy over here, here is Brad rocking a dst and a cimarron, two shelters that he copied to the T..

Hey Huntingspice,

I used to use SO shelters, a lot. I also used Black Diamond, MLD, MSR, Nemo, and a while bunch more. I started making tents because after using all of them, I wanted something different than anyone else was making because I didnt love any of them for the hubting I was doing, and I did. The Mid design wasnt invented by SO. the OG mid design is the BD MegaMid. Our Absaroka is a different size, fabric, strength and pitches differently due to the shape, material, paneling, How it packs, etc. The differences in tents are subtle, but important, and if you use them a lot you'll understand that. Particularly why polyester fabrics vs. nylon creates an entirely different shelter.

We started out as filmmakers. Then, as is the same now, I used what I thought was the best gear out there, and thats why we make the gear we do.

I think the real question here is what's your point with this whole thread? Pretty lofty accusations you throwing out while hiding behind a fake name. If you have a point, other than you're bitter about something, I'll give you my cell phone, and I'd be happy to talk to you.

I think the point is, like many other Americans. They are tired of seeing people just rip off someone's product and import cheap copies from over seas. Then sell at or above the made in the USA counterpart.

If that's what his point is then, firstnof all he should speak for himself and say that and secondly, Brad, is the wrong guy to take issue with when it comes to copying or ripping off designs

He's more then welcome to speak for himself. I was speaking for myself and if you read through this thread. That is what comes to mind as well.

Also, you can keep licking Brad's boots. He's still importing a copy of a product he used, made by cheap taken advantage of labor over seas. I'm not making up anything up "facts" I'm not a democrat!

Unpopular opinion

Making hunting films or documenting your journeys doesn’t make you an influencer. An influencer is paid/sponsored to push gear and “influence” buyers/sales.

You dont appear to be fully informed but thats ok. You can use whatever product you want and so can everyone else. Take a look at the Yukon from Argali and then look at the new prototype from SO and see if theres any similarities. Theres only so many different ways to do stuff but apparently companies changing materials, dimensions, setup, accessories isnt enough for some people. 🤷 And for the record, I own 2 SO shelters and exactly 0 Argali shelters
