Cheap suppressors on the way

Curious to see testing, if they perform adequately, it think it’s a safe assumption that higher end models and suppressor companies are going to get undercut severely

Sort of. I have said for years that there needs to be $150-$300 aluminum suppressors on the market. But, they do have limitations that proper printed Ti cans do not.

When good aluminum cans come on the market that are sub $300; I would get high end printed Ti cans for my main rifles, and all the others would get good aluminum cans.

Gee…. Look at all these OTB cans coming out all of a sudden.

But Rokslide doesn’t effect the industry….
They have been available in NZ long before you guys started making them. I first noticed them probably a decade ago and couldn’t find one in the states.

I’m aware. The first OTB can I used was from the early 90’s. But- these companies coming out with OTB cans in the USA this year are all because of Rokslide and the US can- I’m not guessing.

AB were the first otb cans that I was aware of being publicly available. And as far as I know that was before the unknown otb cans. The funny thing is I had an idea for an otb can about 15 years ago and have drawings to prove it but obviously never did anything with it. Evidently I should have pursued it.

When I first tried to find one the only thing that was really available was geared towards the AR space. I was pretty dumbfounded that they weren’t readily available here in the US. I even talked with a SOT about making me one but never followed through.

I’d say that is pretty accurate on the sudden rise in popularity.

No. OP’s Inc, Surefire, Griffin, and several smaller companies had OTB cans availbe in the US 15-30 years ago. However, none of them were lightweight “hunting” cans.

And as far as I know that was before the unknown otb cans.

The issue with AB’s cans is they are big, bulky, and look like a dildo- that’s why they did not massively affect any other company. People have short memories- 1.5 years ago most people said that OTB cans were stupid and not “efficient”. Quite a few companies were pushed to do proper LW OTB cans for hunting- all said they were pointless, would not suppress enough, and that there was no market.

I am not saying that it matters between cans, nor am I saying that it means much- except, that in several threads lately people love to say that “Rokslide is a tiny fraction of the community, and means nothing to the industry”. That is factually incorrect. Rokslide has an influence on the industry, and sometimes a relatively large one. The lightweight, hunting focused OTB cans that are coming this year are 100% because of Rokslide.

My main use prior to 2018 or so with OTB cans were the OPs Inc and Surefire ones. The OPs Inc were incredible, the Surefire’s not so much and in a large way is what gave OTB cans a bad rap with shooters. I tried hard to get several companies to make LW OTB cans- no takers. Then I went to NZ and almost all of them used OTB cans… sad sad.

Gap Jaeger was out 3 ish years ago, just didn't take it seems. Many choices of OTB cans global VS still few domestic. "additive" printed baffle tech is pushing 4-5" muzzle forward cans to same(or near) performance se dB wise as most the current OTB cans that have larger form factor. This evolution is going to continue for a while with the next best, he said she said, dB this, dB that for a while. Exciting times to be in the supressor market!
