Charleston, SC—things to do & see?

Backwoods about an hour north of Charleston host the US and Junior US open sporting clays events. They also have a rifle range, but it only went to 300 last time I shot there. Palmetto Gun Club has F Class matches monthly. That about it for the Charleston area. No public long range options in lower part of state that I’m aware of.
The Clinton House in upstate host PRS and DM style matches and their range goes out to a mile.
Most long range opportunities in SC are private ranges.

Clinton House has good sporting clays too.

I’ve thought about building a range and/or an NRL Hunter style shooting course.

There is a really good DMR series I shoot. One day matches are held at the Clinton House, the Sawmill in Laurens, SC and Pigg River in Va. I think we had 80 shooters at the last match. That’s seems to be about the most popular style of match right now. It’s faster paced and less expensive than PRS , and most of the guys I used to shoot 3 gun with have transitioned to that style of shooting. Kind of long range 2 gun. Lots of pistol in addition to the rifle.

I used to have a lease in Nesmith, SC not too far from the original Scott’s in Hemingway. The deer and turkey hunting was unreal. I’d pick my boys up from school on Friday, and swing by Scott’s on the way to the lease for the weekend. We did that till they got involved in HS sports. We killed a trainload of deer and turkeys down there. A bunch of kids and adults killed their first deer and turkey on those farms. Good times. There is some outstanding hunting and fishing within an hour of Charleston. I’m down there a couple of times a month with work, and it’s a fun place to visit, but damn the traffic.

I have some ideas from putting my course together, not sure what type of terrain you’re working with (I’ve lived in each region of SC).

Wow! You guys rock— thanks a bunch!

My brother thought maybe a charter, he's never been—anyone recommend one by chance?
There are so many good recommendations so far! I love Charleston and definitely recommend Folly Beach. For a fishing guide, Capt. Mike Illig, Avid Angling. I’ve been with him multiple times, he is super knowledgeable. Here are a few of my catches with him. Tell him Warren, from KY, recommended him.
