Any Reports from The Guys Who got Their Boots From STP?

Stiff boot in the sole and rand. But a lighter a flexible upper. Feels good on the foot. Feels like a "fast" boot - able to really pick up feet and move. About all I can tell from wearing them around house. Seem very well made. Like the lacing system. Half inch size up worked best for me.

Curious What Color You Were Able To Get? I Guess They Are Keepers For You Since You Are Heading To The Trails With Them?

I'm between 11.5 and 12.

The 11.5 gives that glove fit. But I can't get that "finger behind the heel" check when unlaced. Not a ton of extra toe room.

The 12 is a bit roomier. Still a good heel lock, but not as glove like.

Going to come down to toe room and what I feel comfortable choosing.

Not sure I could handle the razzing from my hunting buddies for wearing blue or yellow boots... I have been watching STP a bit as they been still getting them in the "Anthacrite" color if you watch for your size. I grabbed a pair of 10's yesterday and used their extra 35% off code from their Facebook page. Looks like only 11.5+ sizes in Anthacrite today but likely they will get more. Looking forward to trying them out.

After seeing this thread, I figured I'd give the STP version a try (at that price) just because of how well made the Lowa's I've tried in the past were. Pretty nice boot, not quite the quality of the German made Lowa's in my opinion but still high quality Italian craftsmanship similar to Zamberlan. The height was too low for me for the stiffness of the boot. Boot had a nice level of stiffness, but not compatible with the height for me. Heel cup still a little wide for me but seemed better than the Baffin Pro/Tibet I've tried prior. I had the blue version - figured I'd dye them. Anyway, no go for me, sent them back a few weeks back. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on them. Still a nice boot. Also plenty narrow for my very narrow foot.

I got the L&S Cevedales yesterday and wore them around the house tonight. After a while I put a Tibet on one foot to feel the difference. They feel *very* similar with the Tibet feeling just a bit wider in the forefoot. That could be due to break-in or slight differences between the models, but they both feel great. The heel cup might be a touch shallower in the Cevedale, which suits me just fine. As long as they show good durability They have a lot more stitching and more fabric vs. leather than the Tibet), they should be a heck of a boot.

It has been a few weeks and wanted to update this thread.

In my initial reaction, I thought the boots felt "fast". Stiff in the sole and rand, but light in the upper. Light but still supportive and strong around the ankle. Here are my thoughts since then:

Lacing
This is my first pair of Lowa boots, and I really love the lacing system. The anchor on the center of the tongue really helps keep the tongue from sliding around. I like it because it also helps lock my foot down and keep the tension on the laces. That anchor showing no signs of wear and I've been lacing them "strongly" for a couple of months.

Construction
They feel solid as hell. Haven't had as much as a stitch come loose. Boots have mainly been on marked trails, dirt and the stair master. Colorado in November will be the real test.

Break-in and Comfort
Lets get to the good stuff. My biggest concern with these boots was the break in. I've heard some people say that Lowa boots don't need much of a break-in period. I didn't find that to be true. While the boots felt good on my feet - they were stiff. Even though they felt fast and solid, they needed time to mold. Having them for a few months, I can say they really needed a good 3 months on my feet before they gave the athletic shoe "molded in" feel when I slipped in my foot. It took that long for the sole/rand to loosen some as well. Now that I've done a good bit of walking, hiking and some sprinting in the boot - they fit good and feel really comfortable for such a stiff boot. Lets be honest - this is a mountaineering boot. Probably over kill for just a hunting boot in the lower 48 unless you're getting way, way up there or into some nasty stuff. However - once they really broke to my foot, I can see what Aaron like them so much. They are stiff but don't feel that way. A boot that really does feel light and fast. I keep going back to those two descriptors.

If I couldn't find my size at STP, would I spend the extra for the Lanthrop and Sons model? Probably so. I'm always for finding the best priced gear that can do the job AND be economical. But I really like these boots. They were a "light bulb" purchase - they shed light on how much I needed a footwear upgrade.

Just purchased the blue version for myself and the women's burgundy version for my daughter. At the STP price, I didn't feel like I could pass them up, I basically got two pair of boots for the price of one. Looking forward to getting them and trying them out here in the house prior to getting them outside.

I almost ordered a pair last night from STP but wasnt sure if i could pull off blue or lime boots for hunting lol

I bought a pair of Zamberlain boots in lime green and some funky light gray color. Black shoe polished them to tone down the colors and it worked great. A little pig blood helped out too

I got the STP model recently. Provide a real nice heel lock for me, easily better than my Tibets, but the Italians must have narrower feet than ze Germans as the forefoot is noticeably narrower and too snug for me on these Cevedales. Just playing with them in the house, it was hard to notice much increase in sole stiffness over the Tibet but maybe a hair. I might try going up a 1/2 size as some suggested as I otherwise really like them. I should have gotten both sizes originally and sent one back as I got hosed on shipping from STP to Canada. They only had the one size for the darker Anthracite color at the time so guess I should have gotten yellows too and tried dyeing them. Nice boots if your forefoot is not too wide.

Any Reports from The Guys Who got Their Boots From STP?

So I got my boots from Sierra Trading Post and wore them around the house for about 30 minutes today to see how they feel. Now I realize that isn't a real world hunting/backpacking type situation, but my first impression is that these boots are very well made, extremely comfortable, and an absolute steal for $180. Had good heel lock with zero slippage. I also bought my daughter a pair of the women's, and she really likes them as well. These boots are a great option if you're in the market for a new pair of hunting boots, whether you buy them from STP or L&S.
