Cause for concern? Or no? Action mounted bubble levels.

2 different tikka actions, 3 different levels, with varying degrees of error. Tell me I'm being too picky. I'm aware that I can level the reticle to the level and shoot and be just fine, but it's triggering a little ocd having the scope canted relative to the bore. Anyone else out there have ones that match up?

I do know that a tube mounted level is an answer to this as well, but I much prefer the location of the action mounted ones.

All discussion welcome.

People with ocd need to learn when to not double check things imo.

Cause what you don’t know can’t keep you up for 36 days wondering if you may miss a boal in a certain specific scenario 🤣
Is this you fighting the urge to go check your rifles? If so, my sincerest apologies 😆

Oh man I fought the same thing with the same levels this past summer. I had purchased a maven and um level.
The wheeler and the um levels did not agree. So I went and found another… yeah that didn’t help at all. Made me crazy

So what was the final verdict for you? Set up?

I’ve seen discrepancies in the UM levels from unit to unit unfortunately. Those wheeler units suck worse tho haha.

I use an expensive laser to level the action and it also projects a level line onto the wall to set reticle plumb to action.

After leveling with the laser is when I see level bubbles have the discrepancies. Usually not enough to affect down range accuracy.

No shooter no matter how skilled always has their bubble perfectly level shot for shot. Video yourself and see.

Just level the scope to whatever the bubble says and go with it. You can confirm it with a plumb line and the reticle. After all, that's the only thing that matters. Is the reticle/turret mechanism plumb to gravity.

Simply shim under it until it’s as perfect as you like. Right?

As for the accuracy of any bubble level, simply turn it 180 degrees and if it’s accurate will read the same. Bubble levels are self checking.

The amount of chingadara knick knacks people will buy to complete such a simple task is incredible.

You can simply level the scope to what you think is level and then aim at your eye in a mirror. Does the vert line cut the barrel in half....when it does, go look out the window at a building corner....does the line match the reticle?....good. go shoot it to 1200 or so.....and done.

I spend about 3 minutes doing adjustments and am torqued down in under 10 every time.

If I was going to spend money on tools I'd buy a Sterrett machinist level at about $100 used and that one tool could do so much and do it better than some Chinese gadget.

The wheeler level I have just like yours doesn’t match up very well but it has that little set screw I’ll place it on a know good level and adjust the screw until they match and go off that

First time hearing the mirror trick, that’s ingenious.

Yeah, the chingadera… I have to kick myself to not go down that road, as a gadget guy.

+1 to levels just needing to match up with your reticle.

You are not using it to level anything else. Don't even check it. Tools for scope mounting are a gimmick. Etc etc

I got what I wanted out of this thread. I am no longer going to level off of the action. I'm gonna slap on an action mounted level and level the scope reticle to that.
