CarbonSix vs PVA prefit experience

Need some input from your more experienced shooters.

Had an issue where I couldn’t close the bolt on factory 108 ELDM after my first box. Ben at PVA suggested I likely had a carbon ring and to clean that out. Seems awfully quick but I’m no expert.

I bought a bore scope and here are photos before & after cleaning.

There is clearly something at the free-bore area that is either a carbon ring or a bad edge on the throat? I have an untrained eye.

The after photos has me perplexed why there is now a longer flame looking metal?? Definitely chambers better but not butter smooth.

Thoughts?

Looks like it was shaving copper off some jackets at the start of the freebore? That would align with what @bojangles808 was seeing on the bullets with his in the other PVA 6 creed thread.

The "Flame" just looks to be the difference of where you got the carbon cleaned off and down to bare metal in one spot.

Yea I don't have a bore scope but would guess I have some buildup causing the marks on the bullets when cycling. I had the barrelled action soaking in penetrating oil prior to removal but probably got too excited and didn't clean out all the way. Are you doing patches only or brass or nylon brushes cleaning the pvas? I forgot how to clean haha

For those still interested I shot a few 10 shot groups today.

6 CM Factory Hornady 108 ELDM. Still not 100% satisfied with how it feeds but it shoots so I’m rolling with it. After season I’ll get components and load my own.

6.5 PRC w/ 140 hybrid target and 156 EOL. I was hoping one would shoot better than the other to help decide which bullet.

I haven’t shot my PVA barrel yet. I use slightly oversized nylon brushes wrapped with patches or bore mops and a liberal soaking of boretech in throats if they get too much carbon in them.
