Cant wait for thunder!

I like taking people more than I like hunting em myself. Grandpa turned 81 March 8. Hope to get him on one

I've already laid out my gear and tweaked my setup a bit. Our season doesn't start until the last weekend of April this year. Ive gotten a bit ahead of myself. I started turkey hunting 8 years ago at 32. I never had an interest when I was younger. Always interested in big game. I regret the decision now. It's hands down my favorite thing to hunt. Plus it's the one animal that I've truly had to learn on my own. It's been a roller coaster ride full of mistakes but it's been a blast becoming the mediocre turkey hunter I am today.

I saw my first strutters about a week ago and heard my first gobbles of the year tonight.

I'm itching to get after them!

31 days until I'm in Missouri and then Kansas. This will be year 34 in Missouri, so looking forward to getting back there.

saw a strutter OMW to work 2 weeks ago about 30yds from a very busy road with about 10 hens.
My hunting land is about 2.5 hours away, as many as 17 on a camera at one time. a few jakes mixed with the hens. looks like there might only be 2 toms in the area.

I went scouting in a new spot over the weekend. I had low hopes I would find any birds. The second spot I stopped the motorcycle….IMG_1453.png

Strong chance that about 60% or more of them are going to relocate to another area as season gets closer. Winter ground vs breeding ground

Alabama season starts next Wednesday. We have quite a few toms running around on camera right now. Two strutters and a subordinate tom with 6 hens on one of our food plots yesterday. We burned around 80 acres in February so hopefully that will keep them around and bring others in.

Hoping to get some scouting done on public here in SC on Friday. Would love to be able to say I've tagged out on public this season. Almost did in 2020.

Wild 1 hour hunt for opening day in Alabama. This guy was the dominant bird and ran off a much bigger tom that came in silent behind me.

His subordinate buddy got within 5 yards of me, so had to take a suboptimal shot which ended up with my first 2 shot turkey. Thankfully minimal pellets in breasts or thighs.

Henned up big time, my light calling may have helped steer the hens toward me.
