Cancun Mexico Vacation Questions

I was in Puerto Vallarta back in the 80’s and we saw safety concerns, come sundown. Even the Hard Rock Cafe closed there in 2011. Have no desire to go back.

My wife and I went to Cancun for our honeymoon and stayed at Riu Palace las Americas. It was an all inclusive adult only resort. It was a great time and never felt unsafe even when we left the resort. Probably safer there than a lot of places in the US. We went the end of June.
Stayed there last February and loved it. Nice rooms and good food/drinks. Quieter atmosphere but close to the Riu party hotels and other clubs like Coco Bongo and Señor Frogs(if you’re into that). We would definitely go back.

We went to Cancun a few years ago. One of those all-inclusive, if you listen to the spiel to buy, you can stay for a certain number of days for $500.00. We did it, closest I came to a problem was the "salespeople". Wouldn't you know they were Americans. I was ready to fight someone by the time we were done.
The Mexicans working the resort were great. Step off the property and it was defiantly sketchy. We did a couple excursions. And while I didn't think we were going to be sold for slavery. The drivers' conversations in Spanish, just felt like they were discussing us.
I did talk to a few of the Mexican national guard that were patrolling. They are the ones you see in the white multi cam. Nice guys.
It is a beautiful remote country. Too bad they can't get their :poop: together
