Can a Weatherby Backcountry barrel be cut & threaded for suppressor use?

Can it be cut in the flutes (whether threading it or not) or can barrels not be cut in the flutes?

Who can cut down a fluted barrel?

I’ve seen a lot of threads about cutting down barrels. I like my Tikka Roughtech, but I want to cut it down to 20” to use my suppressor. I know some who don’t want to do it because of the flutes. Who have you guys used with success? It shoots well and I really don’t want to have to buy a new barrel.

Weather there is enough meat left to get the right threads you want is another story, but chopping into the flutes is not an issue aside from asthetics.

You can get 5/8-24 threads for suppressor by adding an adapter. There are gunsmiths like Kampfeld that will permanently install an adapter
