helps a lot of guys.

I think that's why it's kinda old news now.

Back in the 90s it was a big deal, now not so much.

Not for me though! Happy with my low-T hahahahaha
Lol I’m young now when I’m 50 and it would increase my quality of life I wouldn’t hesitate to take it. Have nothing against it just can’t stand when people try to hide it

If you guys are mad about this, be mad at the people in your states. They are offering these people a job. Welcome to the real world of public hunting. I live in PA. I see hunters all the time and always have to deal with hunting pressure. It sucks but you just have to work harder.

He posted on his IG that the only vacation he has ever taken his family on was actually a hunting trip to Africa. And yet he finds time every year for multiple hunting trips with his “celebrity” hunting friends. That strikes me as being incredibly shallow and selfish

I think he has done some good for hunting but also comes across as a weird combination of unbelievably sensitive and arrogant.

Growing up on a farm, we didn't take family vacations, just couldn't.

Is that why I'm weird?

Don't always need to go on a vacation for quality time.
i would say that probably is why you're weird;) considering we didn't either so i assume that's where my weirdness came from. we were just too broke growing up, and i never felt like i was missing out, even young, i understood those things and it never bothered me at all.

we do now, when i can make the time, and when i can't, my wife and daughter will go on vacation to places they know i wouldn't be able to stomach, like super crowded venues like disneyland..... i despise huge crowds like that.... i won't even go to sportsman's shows anymore, just too many people, and anywhere people are crammed into small spaces, you see how many inconsiderate people are around you.... they don't mind that stuff, i despise it.

we will probably go to hawaii this winter since i will have a month-6 weeks off after thanksgiving, so after late archery ends in mid Dec, i will make sure we go somewhere to get away

i don't really hold that against him, especially not knowing his family dynamics, maybe they all prefer not to take vacation for whatever reasons.... i can relate to that, because if it wasn't for my wife and daughter, i wouldn't go on vacation ever..... i would go on hunting trips, haha.

I think would be “weird” and applicable to this example if you said, “I grew up on a farm and didn’t take family vacations, just couldn’t. My father, however, took 3-4 vacations a year by himself.”

Granted, the argument exist that hunting is/was Cam Hanes side hustle and he was actually “working” during those “vacation” windows. Have known a person, for example, who has used PTO to go be a wildlands firefighter because he loves it. It also does pay.
Still, though, it difficult to not interpret that statement as a weird flex: “My family sacrificed vacation time so I could go hunting”

He's an outlier, like anyone that is different in any way he attracts as much negative attention as positive.

I enjoy some of his content, I am not on "social media" at all, he has been around the bowhunting world for a long time and has been a positive influence on it in my opinion.

Ran into him at ATA a few times and he was nice enough.

I know nothing of his family life and do not care, if he was such a horrible husband and father his wife should have left him!

I did see his kid brake the pull up record, seems to have a solid relationship with him.

Only time I hear from him anymore is when he is on with Rogan.

I’ve probably said this earlier in this exact thread, but it’s worth repeating. My issues with Cam are twofold: 1. Claiming he’s completely average and anyone can do what he does simply is not true 2. He’s incredibly sensitive to every little bit of criticism, no matter how valid or minor. Being in his position and shitting on people who haven’t accomplished what he has is very off-putting.

What he has accomplished is absolutely inspiring, but he comes off as insufferable on sm and podcasts.

I certainly don't hate Cam, but I'll have to admit the hype makes me roll my eyes.

My elk hunting buddy had a great year last year. He killed a 290ish 6 point on a much less than top tier Wyoming tag, and then killed an old 300ish 6 point one month later on a second choice Colorado tag. He was also right behind me 4 days after his CO bull when I killed a 275ish 6x7 in the same CO unit. Nobody beats him with a pipe, nor does he run marathons. I don't think he even has a formal workout regimen. He just gets up early, is willing to gain a bunch of elevation to get to glassing spots, spends the time behind glass, and does a good job of using good woodsmanship skills.

If I had a great tag and needed someone to help me, and it was between him and Cam, I know who I'm choosing and it wouldn't be Cam....

I feel like we make mountains out of molehills when it comes to hunting fitness.......

2 average size 6pts in one year!? Man, has his phone been blowing up with sponsorship offers?

One thing is absolutely certain, ol' Cam is livin' rent free in a lot of ya'lls heads.

I get it, but I think if you knew the units he killed them in it would make more sense. He also hunted( not counting packouts) a total of about 4-5 days for both hunts.

I don't think Cam would have done any better....

You're right. I'm sure your buddy is a way better Elk hunter than Cam.

He'd be the first to say he got lucky, and I'm sure there was a fair bit of that involved.

My point, which I probably didn't do a great job of making, was that Cam is getting beat with a pipe and running the equivalent of 2 marathons a week for reasons other than elk hunting, which makes it really hard for me to buy in to what he's selling. But that's just my opinion........
