While I mostly agree to your appeal to logic, to what end? Do you not push a child out of the way of a moving vehicle? The child will eventually die anyway, as all things do, so risking injury to yourself would be illogical and by your reasoning saving the child would be emotional. I see the letting the animal suffer as needless regardless of the eventuality of the situation and therefore illogical. I would have dispatched the animal, even by rock if necessary (I have with a tire iron before), and likely would not have called it in. We make decisions based on risk benefit analysis and sometimes those benefits are simply appeasing emotions. If there is no consequence, would you dispatch the animal or simply let nature take it's course? If you would dispatch it you're still succumbing to the very same "emotions", you just deem the personal risk low enough to make it worth it to you. I read an article recently that goes so far as to say all decisions are emotional based. Here it is:Sure you were. You even stated that here......."I explained that I had no problem taking care of it to end his suffering". That's an emotional plea. Logic says the animal dies either way. But if you're willing to accept the risk of getting charged with poaching, then sure......go for it. But if you remove emotions from it........it doesn't matter that nature takes it's course longer than you care for.
I don't care that someone dispatches the animal.....that's fine. But when you bring suffering into the equation......that's an emotional plea, and immediately goes against any and all hunting situations as well. That's the liberals entire basis for ending hunting........the poor animals are suffering. I don't and won't fall into that trap. Of course compassion is definitely NOT one of my gifts I've been given either. Logic on the other hand is paramount.
That's an unequal comparison and in this case wasting meat that may or may not be recovered may increase one's chances greatly for putting meat in the freezer based on countless variables.Wasting meat is illogical in my world. Kind of like opening up your last bottle of water and pouring it out. Is that emotional or illogical.
While I mostly agree to your appeal to logic, to what end?
Ahhhhhh.....now we're getting somewhere. You finally thought the logic through didn't you? Success. That's all I was trying to do for you.
It was a very simple end and simple logical point that I was trying to get out of Dos Perros until tipsntails jumped in running all over the place with assertions to false premises that were never made. My point would have ended quickly and logically without all the extra nonsense. But with ADHD, I'll chase just about any rabbit that enters the scene.
And Bar, emotional decisions can be made as long as you're willing to accept the consequences of said decisions. There's a reason why there's a long standing suggestion in life to NOT make decisions in an emotional state. Emotional decisions are not the best decisions in one's life.........(or in governing our country).
This train wreck has more twists than a Kuiu thread!
