I will chime in, I own a Winchester M70 weather extreme in a .264 WM. It is an excellent round, I am still load developing (fairly new to reloading still) but even with the starting loads I have put together I am clover leafing.

I can't tell you velocity my rifle is reaching I do not own a chrono, I am saving up for a magneto speed.

WRO , if you want a screaming 6.5 then the 26 Nosler is the ticket . I'd personally stay with the 6.5-06 .
The 26 noslers brass costs more that 338 lapua brass and they have terrible barrel life.

If I fire form cases they will be 6.5-06 ai.. just looking at cases I won't have to fire form as well.

WRO,

I agree with shrek.

re barrel to a 6.5-06, think that will meet your needs quite well and be very happy with it.

a 280 could be an option as well

I only mentioned the .264 WM because you asked about it.

WRO , I meant to say 6.5-06 ai. Your ultimate accuracy is going to come from fired cases that have been formed to the chamber anyway so go ai. The Nosler brass is ridiculously priced and the 26 Nosler will smoke a barrel but then a 264 win will smoke a barrel too and if you don't run the 26 nosler hot the brass cost spread over five or six firings shouldn't be too bad in the big picture of building and shooting a custom rifle. I'm not wealthy and costs are a driving force in most of my decisions but if I pick up a magnum long action this weekend at the gun show the leading contender is a 7mm-26 Nosler with an 8 twist 26.5" barrel.

Its basically just a 7mm Dakota, very similar velocities to the 7mm stw.

I've been thinking about a 6.5LRM. Anyone ever build one or have any experience with one?
