I always thought that all of the guns on the shelf at a Cabelas semi-close to me looked banged up. One day, I stopped by just before closing time and they were removing all of the firearms from the display and taking them into a room behind the counter. I don’t know if they did that every day but that could explain the condition of the guns.

The only reason I ever bought a firearm from those stores is because Tikka forced me to. Only way I could get a superlite.

Same. Purchased online a recently. The time for for the "ship to store" was pretty long. The paperwork/checkout took a while but the guy behind the counter was pretty good. I could tell the process of waiting on someone else to verify/double check was irksome for him as well.

I much prefer the simplicity of my local FFL and prefer for my business to go to them. Sometimes, like with the superlite, there's only one option through a big box store.

I bought a gun last year from BP that was on sale, and had it shipped to the local store. It took about a week to arrive and then I went and did all the paperwork. Then had to wait 3 days to pick it up because of the ***clown liberals in our state government. So already waited about 10 days from the date of order/purchase online. So I show up three days later to pick it up, and they tell me that "BP has a 4-day wait period policy"......."to make things consistent for all states". What? Are there other states where you have to wait 4 days to pick up a gun that you purchased?
Washington for one, 10 day waiting period, 10 business days, could easily be two weeks with how weekends fall or holidays. If you have a firearm on consignment and you want to go get it back, have to go through all that BS in order to get YOUR OWN firearm back in possession. Privately selling a firearm is a joke if you are not in the same general area. Have to go through nics check and pass and then wait the 10 days or more. Glad I have enough.

I don’t have enough time to talk about how bad our Cabelas is in Lubbock Tx after the BP buyout. I spent 21/2 hours buying a FN 502T to use with my new .22 suppressor. The worst part wasn’t the wait but how rude the sales people were. Never again!

Gotta love the hoops around ATF forms... Here when you move you notify the state of your address change but you don't get a new DL until you renew, you place a sticker on the back with your new address, that is the state's policy. Well that doesn't work for the ATF. But the good news is you just need a "state issued document" with your name and address on it. It was sportsmans warehouse who explained it to me. "Do you have your address correct in the state game licensing system and if so have you purchased your annual fishing license yet? If not go to customer service and get your fishing license with your correct address on it and come back here with it."

I feel SO much safer ATF.

This is a damned clown show out here. Glad I picked up 3 AR's and a couple pistols before this whole sh&*show hit the fan. I too now have enough.

Used to go to the local Cabelas and shop the bargain cave. Actually found some great deals in there over the years. After BP buyout - no more bargain cave. Just more Chinese made junk clothes. Way to go Johnny Morris…😡

Yes! The bargain cave truly used to live up to its name. I got some really good deals back in the day. RIP. 😭

I've had mixed success with Cabela's/BP. Their gun section's competence seems very location dependent. However, I've scored some good deals from them, with the most recent one being a Tikka Black Friday deal.

I thought my Cabela's was to small for a bargain cave, didn't realize they got rid of them. When I was a kid my dad and I would drive an hour to Mitchell SD just to visit the Cabela's and load up on stuff in the bargain cave and tackle we couldn't get locally. What a shame.

My step-dad passed about a month ago and evidently had a big stack of Cabela's gift cards. My mom told me to go use them on a nice shotgun, but you guys are all scaring me away!

My last gun non-purchase at Cabelas was my LAST.

They had a decent price on AR lowers, and I had points built up, so I ordered 4. About a week later, I went to the closest store to pick them up, an hour each way. I stood in line for an hour and a half, with 3 guys ahead of me. The line hadn't moved, and the guy right in front of me said he'd been there for 3 hours.

I left the line, picked up the rest of the stuff I'd ordered, and canceled the lowers. Went to a LGS that was 45 minutes in the opposite direction, and left there in 15 minutes with my 4 lowers.

Never again. And yes, Cabelas has gone way downhill since BPS took over. They've become the K-Marts of outdoors stores.
