Bears do hibernate in southern CA. Sows have to hibernate to have cubs. Very few pics from mar to feb. Don't think they deep sleep like some states. Saw some feeding sign yesterday.

Based on my conversations with Ca DFG biologists and data analyst, bears do not hibernate in Southern Ca art all. They simply change elevation if needed, to meet their needs. I've seen the lemetry data, there is no doubt that bears are active year round in southern Ca.
