I had a transaction recently on rokslide where the guy wanted PayPal but friends and family only, even if I paid the fee. I got a bad feeling so told him I would only do it if I paid the fee. He reluctantly did it and then basically freaked out and had all kinds of weird made up problems and eventually refunded my money.

If you get any sort of strange feeling like me make sure you pay the fee. It was only a $120 or so transaction but my gut told me something was up...

i wish we could have feedback ratings on here in the classifieds to help combat scammers. i know it might not be feasible as deleting classifieds is asked by the mods probably due to the cost of server storage or something like that but i think it would really help. in the meantime never send a payment unless its via paypal goods and services. CYA!

It really has nothing to do with F&F. These forums are actually a great self-regulating mechanism in a way. It's not very hard to screen buyers or sellers just reading through their posts, it's tough to BS this stuff, you can tell if people know what they are doing and usually can find past txns. I don't deal with anyone that I can't vouch out to the point I trust them. Now high dollar purchases, whatever your threshold for that is, by all means add the fee for security, but it's stupid to ditch it because you can't do your due diligence for lesser items.

I've sold a few things and just shipped them on my dime and told them to do the same if they were not happy. Seems to work ok for me. Always got a check in the mail too! But I'm sure like everyone I'll get burned too!

what a shame ive been buying and selling on this and other forums quite a bit and never had any funny stuff at all, like someone said above I always look at recent posts of the seller I bought a prime off AT a while back and the guy only had 30-40 posts which made me nervous but the bow was flawless and exceeded the description

Good out weights bad 99 to 1 .... I think its great that we identify and act on the shitbags.

But in also dont think it's a good thing to overhype the few negatives to the detriment of all the positives.
