I went to mount a scope on my Bergara B14 wilderness ridge using the Wheeler 2 level system. I proceeded to try and get the rifle level using the smaller level on the rails so I could then set the barrel clamp level as my reference. The issue is that when the rear rail shows level, the front one does not and vice versa. Any thoughts here? Did I just get a bad rail??

Thank You!!

First though would be holes on the receiver are drilled crooked. Any binding or troubles getting screws in? I've not owned a Bergara so help me out, are the 2 piece bases the same piece? Or is one thicker than the other like on a Remington? I don't suppose you have a 1 piece base to try do you?

I sure hope it's not the receiver as if it is -it is going back to Bergara. No binding or trouble getting the screws in. When I line up the mounting holes by putting a string down the center of them, everything looks straight so I'm hoping its just the bases. I do not have a one piece short action rail or I would put it on and see if everything lined up. They are he same exact bases as for a Rem 700.

Any noticeable burr on the bottom of a base? Any gap under a base when torqued down properly?

Definitely no burrs and I didn't notice any gaps. I sent the bases back to Burris so I can't play around with it anymore until the new bases arrive. I sure hope it's not the receiver and if so I would hope they would send a new rifle....

If you bought it from a local Bergerac dealer you might take it in and have them look at it.

It was the bases that were bad. I picked up a Warne 2-piece mount and everything lined up as it should. I am less than impressed with Burris customer service as well and likely will not buy their products again.

Glad you got it all figured out. To bad to head about their customer service. I've had great luck the few times i have needed them.
