Budget Bird Shotgun

What are everyone's thoughts on the Mossberg Maverick-88 as far as a budget bird shotgun? or other suggestions

My 88 is the short barrel for intruding 2 legged critters, but I've read and heard from numerous people that the full barrel 88 is a down and dirty good bird gun! It ain't for the fancy hunters for sure but I'd love to have one!

I'm an 870 guy. Have not heard anybody complain about a mossberg though

Fit is what kills birds.
If it fits and functions, it probably works.
If it doesn't fit but functions, good luck.

The 88 is a pretty close copy to the Mossberg 500 right? Lots and lots of birds have been killed by 500's.
