Not awesome they closed ocean salmon, btw, but def great you can hit a river in your area and score big fish.

Looks like some serious fun! You have a cool fishery there!

Being able to reach them in a kayak adds to the cool factor. I have always been intrigued by kayak fishing but there aren’t many places or scenarios here where they are beneficial… looks like that isn’t the case in your neighborhood

It’s really fun, so rewarding to be able to harvest fish and squid from the ocean to take home. Always stoked to see people like yourself out there catching salmon. I’m trying to plan a trip to the Rogue, Klamath and Smith rivers to fly fish steelhead next time I’m coming home from Montana during their run. I started kayak fishing 10 years ago and thought I’d created a whole new sport all on my own; little did I realize there’s a huge kayak fishing community, NCKA, really great people. I actually was just chatting with someone up in Oregon who trolls for coho, sounds like the season is just gearing up, I might make a run up there to spend a week kayak fishing for salmon. Funny thing, I have a 26’ skipjack/farallon style boat, I prefer the kayak.

Just spent Friday evening through Sunday afternoon camping/fishing with my wife and daughter in the cascades. We did the same trip last year. I think this will be our family tradition as long as she likes hanging out with dad!

She was big enuff this year to real some of the fish in if I held the pole.

Last weekend I got some rockfish and crabs at the Oregon coast with some friends. A group of us went down for my buddies 40th birthday

We did a big fish taco dinner, that was tasty!

I enjoy chasing fish but largely as a secondary to hunting and mostly spear fishing. I suck at rod and reel but here are a few from from the past few years, the Halis are from last week, great eats

Damn that’s the money shot, if I were you which I guess is HI I’d be chasing uku. I tried when I was on Maui with rented gear and missed my shot! It’s so fun though, just underwater hunting.
