Some more pics of me and my dad from this spring. We had this small electric only lake figured out for a bit and had a good stretch of atleast one 4lb smallie every time.

An absolute beast of a shortraker rockfish we got yesterday while halibut fishing in 850fow
Beast indeed. how deep were you fishing. Not sure about the area you fitsh but, in southern Ca. there are limits as to how deep we can fish.

Went out with my niece and brother yesterday. She caught her first halibut, reeled it up from 80fow all by herself.

We can only go down to 300' with two hooks, Unless there has been a change I'm unaware of.
Yeah, we have no depth limits on all depth halibut days and that was 7 days a week this year for early season. I had a typo in my post with the fish, I’ll blame it on 3 offshore trips in a row 😂 it was a rough eye, not a short raker… I have not seen a short raker, but that’s the place to see one if I’m going to. It’s our deepest area we fish, most of the halibut spots in Oregon are around 100 fathoms, but the area we have mostly fish this year is 140-148 fathoms… caught some weird sea creature yesterday I’m working on trying to ID, never seen anything like it

That’s a 15lb Giant Black Seabass! Pictures do not do that guy justice, fought harder than any other fish I’ve ever caught. Got that picture and then released it since it’s a protected fish.

Thanks! How far offshore were you when you caught those big Ling? I caught one in the Monterey Bay that big once, looked incredible coming up under my kayak.

Yeah I caught that bsb at a spot I fish for halibut that has a whole bunch of white sharks during the summer. This pic was taken the same day I caught that BSB. I’m up front and two of my brothers were behind me, we see a lot of juvenile whites, 6-10’ and they take off when you paddle up to them, this ~15’ Great White didn’t care at all when we got close, I ended up about 6’ away checking it out.

Yes sir, it’s been awhile. Still check in once in awhile but don’t post anything anymore, used to be a cool place, and still some good folks there, but the ratio got bad😂

If pharm goes back, I will too… at least for a short bit, haha.

Never ever, brother. That place can SM nasty D.

Anyway, just found this thread, so allow me to contribute a few No-long-arm photos:

Sea spiders

They can get beefy

My kid on the left with his buddy, early season coho a couple of years ago.

A couple of decent ocean chinook, caught targeting coho a couple of years ago. No long arming.

Meaty fillets off one of them

Whoa!!! I've seen a lot of GW's in the wild. Never in a kayak!
I fish a lot, 70-90 days a year in depths between 50-80 fathoms. We're open year round at all depth. Those fish were caught in 65 fathoms. The amount of Lingcod out deep would blow most minds. If I don't catch 32 a day, I'm perplexed.
I've caught them as deep as 900'
