Braggin Board for Fishing!

This is my favorite recipe for blackened catfish. 1 tsp paprika, onion powder, cayenne powder, garlic powder, black pepper, dried thyme, oregano, 1TBSP kosher salt. I coat the filets, heat unsalted butter and olive oil until it starts to bubble, then cook on high heat until done. If thyme and oregano are the leafy kind, I grind them with coffee grinder, not a must but I like it that way.

Quick little fun run for the crew… literally 1.5hrs dock to dock, and we never get to fish ourselves so it was a great morning… nothing special but quick halibut fishing is special within itself, just 3 of us and we all got fish our first drop

Tomorrow will be a boat load of people halibut fishing, and a lot longer run, hard to not appreciate this morning

Just got back from my annual 16 Day long range trip out of San Diego. I lost 3 big tuna (sharks, pulled hook and broken leader). My biggest to the boat was only #125, with a few smaller #40 - #80 fish. I did crush the Wahoo and some grouper as well. After a few donations to feed my instructors here at work, I ended up bringing #1100 of fish to the processor. Lots of large fish around, but the sharks were THICK. Successful trip for sure. Now, I can focus on hunting for a bit.

Nice catch. to bad about the sunburn. :)

Took a trip with my dad and grandpa a few years ago out to the tundra in Canada at one of the lakes near Great Slave Lake. Some of the best fishing I’ve been a part of. Was light almost 24 hours a day so you could just go jump on a boat and troll whenever you felt like it. Spent the week catching lake trout and grayling while spotting wolves and musk ox.
