Bourbon

Just received a bottle of Eagle Rare as an anniversary gift and it's not bad. I've had smoother but really nice flavor. My wife used it for a little cooking action recently and it made her tomato soup even more amazing!

I just tried Eagle Rare for the first time last night. It’s good for $45-60 per bottle, but any more than that and I’d be out. Hope that doesn’t sound like I’m crapping on it; in that price range there only a few others I prefer.

Weird finish on this one, undecided on what I think about it. It’s interesting at least. Everything up to that is pretty standard.

The top of the list is Redwood Empire Pipe Dream cask strength. Then in any order, Wild Turkey Rare Breed (bourbon or rye), Russell’s Single Barrel, Wild Turkey 101 8 year. I like Bulleit just a little better in that price range, but it’s really a different drink entirely than Eagle Rare.

I personally think 4 roses small batch select > eagle rare 10
They are both similar $ usually

I haven’t had the 4 roses small batch, but it’s on the list.

I made an old fashioned with the Barrell Seagrass tonight and it was out of this world.

Love me some Russell’s. Their single barrel always rocks. I just completed my Camp Nelson collection, it took me a while:

I’m working on a maple pecan old fashioned with buffalo trace. I’ll check out the Seagrass.
The Seagrass will overpower the other flavors, I suspect. Knob Creek has a smoked maple bourbon that might be appropriate for your application.

I’m on Pipe Dream and Seagrass tonight, both barrel strength. I think I have covid, this seems like the best remedy.

Edit to add: I’m still going to drag my butt out of bed to go hunting in the morning.

Joining the party late. Not necessarily bourbon, but in that vein….
For regular use I like Angel’s Envy and Old Forester.
For special occasions, a sip of Leupold Brothers 3 Chamber. It has a unique flavor that I can only describe as damp cardboard. But in a good way which I can’t convey.
For super special once ever year or two, I’ll pour a finger of my Redwing 27.

Does anyone go to the annual Whiskey X expo? It’s well worth the trip.
