Just got a call from my supervisor that we are headed to Boulder to help restore power. Didn’t even know it was burning, but the reports are starting to come in about how bad it is/was. 100+mph winds pushing flames towards a few towns. Two towns have already been evacuated and it looks as if Broomfield is next. Multiple homes and buildings already destroyed. Prayers out to any of the residents affected.

Any Roksliders live in Boulder County? I live about an hour east of there, and will be there shortly.

Also fairly far east of there, but have been watching on the news and it looks pretty awful. Good luck and stay safe. Prayers to all the families losing their homes today. Sounds like hundreds of them already.

So far 600+ homes, a hotel, and Target store have burned.

We’re about 20 minutes south, but my folks and sister’s family who live in Boulder County are safe. However, we have 2 friends who have lost homes already.

Watched it all unfold from above.

My wife and I left our house about 3 hours ago. We are on the west side of Broomfield, right by Lafayette. We left when smoke was pouring over our neighborhood and flames were visible from our bedroom window. I don’t think our home is going to get hit, but it’s definitely going to be a long night for many people tonight

Hope things go well for you, but if you need any sort of assistance please reach out.

I’m about 15 minutes south of it. Right on the border of pre-evacuation. Looks like the wind has calmed down. Crews were able to come in after unsafe conditions on burning houses.

I just returned to Boulder today from being in TX for several weeks. Luckily, I am a few miles NW of the fires, but feel for all affected.

We evacuated about an hour ago. Our house is about a mile or two east of the current evacuation zone.

Heading up 287 toward northwest parkway, there are hundreds of vehicles idling on shoulder of the road - presumably folks from superior and Louisville still trying to figure out where to go.

Fire was visible to the west while driving north on 287.

How are the winds now? Seems calm now up 287 on north side of fire

What a shock. With all of the snow in the west right now this is just about the last headline I would have expected. All the best to all of you that are affected by this tragedy.

Winds are a lot lower now, but you never know what can happen. There hasn’t been any precipitation in damn near 6 months. Everything is bone dry.
Yep. Hoping this can be the window to get it contained. Winds were ripping all day.

Wow hopefully they'll get it contained rapidly

News briefing at 5pm they basically said “we can’t fight it. We’re focusing resources on evacuating people and setting up emergency shelters.”

Took this on my way home from work. The whole north west metro area has miles of this dry grass and pockets of homes. There’s video on the local news showing home camera footage of it moving insanely fast.
