So is everyone one else that brought a pack to market, including Dana Gleasons kid. I myself am a knowledgeable pack guy.

Enough to know (good) pack suspensions is a physics and engineering problem.
Like I said, I’m not against it. If it’s good it’s good. We all win when innovation is good.

What do we think the total weight is going to be with the medley of pockets?

In the video, Snyder said the frame is “sub 3 pounds”. Well the k4 is already sub 3 pounds and the k4x frame is supposed to be something like a pound lighter. The k4x bags are also supposed to be something in that order lighter too, for a total savings of over 2 pounds if I recall correctly.

I think it’s going to be tough to compete with that. Time will tell.

Yeah no kidding. The amount of FNG's on this thread that seem to be poo pooing this pack without any real reason to other than its not Exo or whatever is funny. I mean I was going to joke that this will sell just because its Aron. Now I'm like wait a minute you should look and at least be intrigued just because its Aron. Not that anyone needs to buy a new pack of they don't need to but at least be curious. I remember when it used to be noone ever recommended anything on Rokslide that wasn't Kifaru and you know who was THE guy at Kifaru. Shoot I joined Rokslide while researching what Badlands I should buy and I blew that budget out of the water with a DT2. Kurt had just started SG. I don't even rememeber if Exo was even a company. It was a Kifaru vs Kuiu world.

I don't know if they know that's one of the guys they owe to having this forum to even come to. I mean do they even throw their packs off a cliff.....? 😆

I don’t think people are poo pooing it because it isn’t an exo. They’re asking what’s better about this than what exo has on the market currently and is planning to bring to market.

I’m not as seasoned as some folks here, but I bought my first kifaru when the duplex hunter was their flagship frame. I’ve had tactical and duplex light frames with a medley of different bags. I still have a kifaru shape charge that I use for travel and whitetail hunting. To me, and I think most of the market, kiffy lost their spot at the top sometime around the sale, move, and launch of the ark. Today, I think, and many would agree, that EXO makes the best hunting pack on the market. They’re kind of the standard now. If you’re bringing something new to market, you’re going to have to separate yourself from the standard.

Can someone please post pictures for those of us who don't have social media?

Excited to try this new pack from Aron. Weight is always a factor but if it hauls better with good distribution and is comfy for multiple mile/day pack outs I’ll gladly sacrifice a pound to trade for that.

I see where Exo fits into the market but in BC with personal hunts/guiding where you’re taking full capes, meat, and client gear, you need that extra weight on the pack to make it comfy and feel ok at the extremes. I’ve had the k2/3/4 and all of them slipped for me under loads over 65lbs. To me, this is where I’m hoping this pack fits into the market.

Kifaru is moving more towards the mass market. I do agree Exo has really perfected what I consider to be the lower 48 pack and Kifaru is moving most of their chips into that space. At least that’s how I felt after talking to them at a show and with the new Ark frame. Kifaru made sacrifices on the Ark to meet weight specs unfortunately. The duplex lite is still my favorite heavy hauler. With that said, they both make amazing packs and it’s an awesome time to be a consumer. You have so many choices of extremely high quality gear. Having another competitor (BP) I’m hoping only pushes this space further.

I’ve always enjoyed Aron’s design philosophy. He likes to find the happy medium that allows you to use it to the extremes. The SG Terminus for instance took light to the extreme. Oh it’s light, but man, over 45lbs it was a joke. There are trade offs to everything, and again, I’ll happily take a bit of weight for packability with weight. If you do value to be the absolute lightest, you need to understand what you’re giving up and that’s the pack out.

All of this is incredibly speculative and I guess that’s the fun with new gear is debating about unknowns. Stoked to try and get one before the sheep opener in August!

Sounds like you need a Barney’s pack

I’m not in the market for a new pack, but if I were I’d absolutely look at it.
I bought my Kifaru from Aron, he called me back a couple times during the process and I used the pack to haul 4 caribou bulls in 4 days. I use that same duplex for all my training rucks and have a second duplex tactical I bought second hand for friends and family to use. That being said when i had a stitching issue and contacted Kifaru they told me that they wouldn’t repair it. It was 10 tears old but had only been used for 4 days at that point, so I would have gladly paid to get it fixed. So much for lifetime warranty.
If I were in the market for a new frame I would definitely try EXO as well, they might not be a fit for everyone but I haven’t heard anything negative about their service. After Kifaru’s response, they’d be on the outside looking in. The only thing that would pull me back in is that I already have 3 bags and don’t know how they’d fit on a different frame.

"The best" is a laughable idea when it comes to most hunting gear. Fit and features are what should drive those decisions.

More new innovations drive the industry to collectively be better.

This is where I'm at with packs and footwear. There's some of each that I would LOVE to love, but they just aren't comfortable for me. In both categories, I've put on things that many raved about and found them downright painful.

Regardless, there's a big circle of examples in packs of companies learning from others and redoing their own product for the better.
