Maybe I missed it as I just skimmed the thread, but I like the William W. Johnstone books for camp. Easy reading.

Labyrinth of Ice by Buddy Levy is a MUST read. You don’t know tough until you read about them boys!

Backing the multiple recommendations of Blood Meridian.

Would also heartily recommend My Confession: Recollections of a Rogue” by Samuel Chamberlain. It served as the historical basis for Blood Meridian and is quite the tale in its own right.

There’s parts that are a bit technical and dense, but power through. It’s very very interesting, and I’ve found the key takeaways to be very useful and accurate in my experience.
