Blocking Access Roads Legal?

Ran into this situation a couple of years back in CO. We had scouted an area pretty hard for two days before start of 1st Rifle. Took about 45 mins to an hour depending on conditions to wind through several FS and BLM roads to get to area to hunt.

We got to the final turn off that was an approx 1 mile dead end BLM road that went to top of a ridge. Right at the turn off there was a truck parked directly in the road that prevented anyone getting around it. I got out of truck to assess the situation and noticed there were also fresh tire tracks past the parked truck that continued up the road to the ridge in question.

I was ticked off and kind of surmised someone was blocking access so others would not be able to hunt the area. After having several interactions previously with CO Game Wardens I was not confident calling them would resolve anything, so we sucked it up and went to a backup area.

I had actually had a convo with the game warden a month prior to season and asked about that specific area. He told me it was a "Locals" spot and one of the top 5 in the unit. I figured it was a cock block once I saw the truck blocking the road

I feel your frustration,
This whole thing is kind of a mess. There are two parts to it;
The first one is that if part of the road goes through private land, and based on what I heard from the Colorado rangers, it's up to the landowner to allow access. Since it's a seasonal road, you're hoping no one will block it. We ran into such scenario and luckily for us, no one had, so we were able to go back and forth without any issues.
The other scenario is someone just trying to control access to the area, which isn’t legal. If that happens, I’ll definitely call the rangers and let them deal with it.
I don't know how you guys feel about moving someone’s vehicle, that’s a personal line, you never know what people might be up to or how they’ll react, and it’s just not worth the risk.

You're right about it being private land and being blocked by the owner which is legal but chicken. I have onX, in AZ and I find it very accurate in finding the owner.

lotta talk. Somehow I doubt yall are going to do much though
I'm not crazy enough to send someone’s truck off the edge then park mine a mile down the road with a target painted on the side, but I’m glad some people out there are!

I doubt most people are gonna do much on the way in other than make some calls, but if the truck is keeping them from leaving, especially with limited cel coverage… thats when the shenanigans start.

Two years ago we went to an access dirt road we had picked out the day before for dove hunting in Az. two trucks had blocked the path back to where we wanted to go. We just went down the road about two miles and set up there. On the way up the dirt road, both trucks had all four tires flat. No, we didn't do it, someone else wanted the same sport. It was about 110 degs. at the time. Sucked to be them.
