Whether it was a landowner or an outfitter, my reply is always "if you think I'm breaking the law, then call the game warden or the sheriff. Otherwise, leave me alone." I've had more run-ins with dickwad guides and outfitters that think they own the forest service land they're guiding on than landowners.

I have a pretty simple philosophy in life......."you go ahead and do whatever you think you need to do, and then I'll go ahead and do whatever I think I need to do after that".........and so on, and so on.
