6 pounds 5 oz no scope or mounts

I picked up demo Jaeger receiver from EuroOptic and added carbon fiber furniture. At some point I’ll buy nice wood furniture but I just can’t stomach the thought of abusing nice wood in the backcountry (plus it’s heavier).

There’s a couple of Jaeger receivers for sale at BlaserBuds.

Here’s my setup

What are these two setups? I may have missed their description in other posts thanks.

There are 2 American companies that claim to be able to build a R8 or r93 barrel. Quality and customer service is questionable.

There are 2 or 3 other companies in New Zealand and Europe that make aftermarket barrels. They know how to harden the barrel shank. The American ones like I said are questionable.

Who are the overseas barrel makers that will export to USA?

Can you provide a link or email for the kiwi barrel maker…I’m striking out
Can't find it either. It was Border, but now I don't know who it is.

Bix won't import, spoke to him last year about it.

There were some Russian options, and there are random guys that will do them.

Pete told me that he has had a lot of problems making them work. The biggest problem is those that are pursuing this option with stainless barrels. Stainless isn't as strong as chrome steel and there are issues with this.

I don't have any more contacts.

I personally am done with non-Blaser barrels unless I move back to Germany and can get one from Bix N Andy.

I have business contacts in Germany and Italy…any issue with sending Bix-n-Andy barrel to third party?

I'm like others in that I have seen third-party barrels but just don't trust them vs. the Blaser. The Blaser barrels I have are all excellent and sub-MOA without any drama.

Who is doing Border barrels in NZ? The former head barrel maker for Border in the UK was making the initial Hardy carbon barrels but he moved on some years ago. Did he setup shop somewhere else? Or do you mean Hardy is making Blaser compatible barrels now?

I’m not sure why everyone is looking in Russia, Australia, ect. If I’ve missed something I apologize. My 264 Win R8 barrel was custom built. The gunsmith retired but this guy bought the business and trained under him for a couple years. I don’t have a barrel from the new owner but I doubt Elmer would sell to someone who would not carry on the tradition of excellence.

Steve,

Did you pay Elmer full amount in advance for a 12-15 month lead time?

I had one of your Elmer’s barrels, it sucked it was a 280 Ack.
What was issue…accuracy, fitment?

There’s a 280 AI for sale on AH; one of Elmer’s. I really like the cartridge, but I’m now thinking 7x64 is close enough if I can find a barrel stateside.

That still leaves 22 CM in 7” twist that I want

Out of curiously, does anyone know where to source something like one of the following for the R8 with DBM -
1. KRG W-3 / Bravo
2. Manners T2A / CS-2 / LRH (etc.)
3. McMillan A3 / U10

Blaser has always been cool, but I’m just in a place where I will not own/buy a gun that doesn’t at least give the option to mount a stock I actually like. Many of the features are “lost” on my heathen soul ;-).
