Anyone shooting this cartridge? I'm guessing it's not real common in USA.

Blaser offers it in their K95. Seems like a good rimmed option if you were looking to be around 270win performance.

We used to own one in a BRNO combination rifle. It had great potential, but the rifle itself would not shoot well. Not sure whether the throat was shot out or the barrel wasn’t properly mounted to the shotgun barrel below it.

It’s a .280Rem (not AI) clone. They’re so close one of them can be shot on the others chamber.

No sir it is not. That great big R at the end means rimmed. The 7x64 is similar but not exactly the same as the 280. The 7x65R is a different beast meant for use in single shots and combination guns.

To the OP I would just look around for ammo or brass and decide if it makes sense to you versus 7x57R or some of the Blaser cartridges.

You’re right. I went straight to the 7x64.

Loaded to full power 7x65R is a 7x64 and 280Rem ballistically twin. But as you say they’re not interchangeable. 7x65R is indeed for single, combination and double rifles.

I’ve used it in a K95 and for me it is the comfort limit for a light single shot. I shot better with a .270Win barrel in the same rifle and the best with a 6,5x57R (6,5x55 rimmed “equivalent”) barrel.
