Blaser R8 Field Evaluation

Is that a Maven RS1.2 scope? Are those low rings? I’ve thought about buying that scope for my R8, but have wondered if there is enough clearance between the low 30mm scope rings and the scope base. I want to stay with the lowest rings possible.
Yes it is. The rings are highs, needed to clear the erector housing, not the bell of the scope.

I used a set of tier one rings on a Blaser base with a RS1.2 and that worked great. I like them as they seem more robust than the Blaser rings. But I wouldn’t mind them being lower.

If a guy wanted to put money away for "the rifle" is there realistically anything better from a hunting standpoint than an r8 and 2-3 barrels? The other option would be something like a bat vesper custom but the more I dig the more I'm leaning blaser.

I think it all depends on your needs, but I have used my R8 a lot since buying one four years ago. I've been a Kimber fan for over a decade, but grab my Blaser more than my Kimbers anymore, except when hunting sheep.

I have R8 barrels in 22LR, 22-250, 6.5 Creedmoor, 270 Win, 300 Win Mag, and 9.3X62. The 22LR gets a ton of use practicing and for small game, and the 270 for big game. I can't overstate the usefulness of the 22LR barrel for practice and small game...

I would be a happy man if all I could keep are my Kimbers in 223 and 308, and my Blaser in 22LR, 270, and 9.3X62.

If I just had my R8 with 223, 270 and 30-06 barrels I'd be perfectly happy for the rest of my hunting days.

In fact, I've been selling off rifles and probably will end up at this place eventually.
