there were a few and yes that is a steep hill! The opener should be good, 5 Days!!

My biggest surprise was seeing a big black bear, that is a first for the area I hunt.

My normal A North archery hunt is a no-go this year...second daughter should be born in the next week and a half. I'll be heading to a different spot towards the end of rifle season as time allows and then down to D6 for a mulie.

Rock - those two bucks in that pick at very old deer. they have been the same antler size now for 4 years when I first found this spot. Who knows how old they were before I found them. That buck is a wide and tall forky with about 3" eye guards. I got to watch him in velvet for about 5 minutes, then watched him rip all the velvet off and eat it.

yes...I gave my cousin crap for packing it back there as with 4 D batteries I am sure that thing weighed 3lbs. But, going to bed never felt soo good.

Right on, at least your seeing bucks! I like those old pacific forks. Cool you were able to watch them, seems early for them to shed their velvet....?

thanks Zeus. despite the temps showing 105 this weekend I will be back out for two nights.

rock - for the coastal deer in A zone it is about normal. I usually see about 50% hard horned and 50% velvet right now. Seeing the bucks is always fun, figuring out how to stick one is the problem, lol.

Me and my hunting partner put a few stalks on A zone bucks last weekend but they didn't pan out! All the bucks we saw were still sporting their velvet. I can't hunt this weekend but maybe the weekend after we can make something happen.

Interesting.....the few bucks I have seen have had very little velvet. What county if you don't mind me asking?
