I’m kind of in the market for a new pair of gaiters, the Black Ovis ones have been popping up on camofire for $50 lately and I might pick them up but was hoping for some recommendations either for or against first.

Primary reason will be for bushwhacking though some pretty thick bush/thorn. I’m also open to all the others brands, but for $50 if these hold up, and seam tough- I’d give them a try.

Or spend a little extra for OR or SG or another brand?

I like mine. Pretty quiet, not very heavy, and fairly durable material. Not as durable as some others but more flexible/comfortable than most. The only thing I would change is if they were a touch taller. The King’s XKGs look great as well.

I have them as well. They work. Not the best out there but they do the job for a decent price.

I got the L/XL Black Ovis ones and could have gone to the M/L size. I wear Meindl Himalayas size 12.

Like my Blackovis pair a lot. I'm not super hard on them but feel inclined to wear them more often than I thought I would. For the price I think you'll be happy. I have the original version btw, I'd expect the v2 to be better.

Skre has theirs on sale for $29.99, I ordered a set so we will see how they compare to the OR CROCS.

My Kennetreks have worked great and are super durable. That being said, all the Black Ovis clothing items I have purchased have been a great value

If you're very hard on gear or use them frequently or need for snow or water get OR crocs or the REI version. That REI model isnt as beefy as the OR but its about half the price and works good too.
IMO all the hunting brands are emulating or trying to improve on the OR gaiter. Been around forever and doesn't need any changes with modernized buckles or snaps or cams or whatever tweak somebody dreamed up to push a new product line.

I've been eyeing the Black Ovis gaiters also as they look like a really great deal but I've got the KUIU Yukons and they've been bullet proof for me. Everything from West Texas brush where all the vegetation bites back to soggy Alaska Tundra.
