My uncles did a similar deal a few years back. 3 bison, 3 different methods. They basically had to cut them off and wait for a shot or setup where they circle by. All were shot in the vitals and went down as expected. The arrow was an average proshop setup. It was some of the best hamburger I've ever had.
1). 50 cal pistol
2). Bow and arrow from a tree stand
3). 300WSM.
All above methods worked great. The bison isn't going to get away.
