Buying a set of binos for spotting shots at the range budget of 3500 tops and I'm unsure what to get. I want the swaro EL series 12X50 or 15x50 but I cant seem to find them. is that overkill for just spotting and should I get the SCL model or what?

15s only come in SLC and 12s only come in EL. Both are great glass, the 15s are my favorite that I've looked through

Does the SLC also have the range finding capabilities ?

I guess I'm a little confused? You are using binos for spotting shots at the rifle range? How far are you shooting? It seems like you would be able to spot bullet holes a lot quicker and easier....especially at long range with a spotting scope on a solid tripod? You ought to be able to find a great spotting scope for $3500! I was just at my rifle range and didn't see 1 guy with binos!

I have used my Meopta Meostar 15x56 HD on a tripod at the range to spot impacts on steel targets out to 900 yards and they work well. But if you are going to shoot paper and want to see individual holes i think you will be better served using a spotting scope. My best spotting scope optically is the Meostar S2 HD 30-60x82 WA but i actually use my Bushnell LMSS 8-40x60 with Horus 59 reticle more for spotting shots since the Horus 59 is FFP and will allow you to measure exactly how much in centimeters your shot is off target. It makes zeroing a scope much faster and is much easier for calling corrections, especially if your rifle scope has mil clicks. The glass on the Bushnell LMSS doesn't compare with the Meopta but that reticle makes up for it when spotting shots. For regular hunting i would still use the Meopta to follow up with glassing for game.

It would be our pleasure to discuss options with you.

The Swaro's are EXCELLENT optics. They should most certainly be tripod mounted.

In a spotter we will be announcing later this week, early next week, the Meopta MeoStar 82 HD - Angled & 20-70x Eyepiece #543240 reduced to only $1,799.99 from $2,699.94

We are accepting pre-orders for this amazing deal so feel free to give a call
