Bic in a ziploc. Classic.

At one time, you could not visit/tour the Victor torch plant and carry a Bic or similar style lighter on your person. I thought it was odd, but the woman I was dating at the time said that someone was seriously burned because they leak. I have no idea if that was/is true. It's just what she told me.

I just toss mine in a plastic tube from a big drill or carbide cutter wrapped in bright yellow tape so I can easily find it in my gear bag.

I tend to buy a pack on any sort of hunting trip if multiple people are going. Can basically guarantee that people will be asking for a lighter and not know where any are. I like getting silly graphic ones at gas stations the best

I actually had a brand new one fail me and my brother this year (2 separate lighters). It was cold and at altitude but we couldn’t not get them to light. The jetboils fired up no problem so we were SOL. We googled it after getting home and I guess this isn’t uncommon and we just needed to warm them up with our hands but I would have thought for as much as we were handling them trying to get it to light it would have warmed up.

O.P. Here, enough people have mentioned altitude I feel I have to say it, Lighters work fine at altitude. At least up to about 12.500 ft. , my experiential limit. When you are in a heated vehicle or cabin, even way up the mountain, they have a usual failure rate, I think it is cold liquid fuel being slow to expand that causes these problems, keep your lighter in your pocket like Willie Nelson and it will work every time. ( I actually hike with an Airweight, and I don't smoke... Cigarettes.) Good call Fetty Wapiti.

Had an old guy in deer camp (who carried matches) tell me a Bic wouldn't work if it got wet. I threw it in a bucket of water, ran the striker on my pants and had it fired up in about 3 seconds.

You guys pay for bics? I haven't paid for a Bic in years.

Ok full disclosure I get many many samples through work and lighters are among those that I get. I'm sitting on a couple cases of bics right now. A case or two of Djeep.

How many Glocks do you own?

Because this is just about the most ignorant post I’ve seen on Glocks in a long time.

I would disagree... more of a woke comment than an ignorant comment. If you want to shoot as good as a thug, a cop, or a storm trooper grab a glock!

You can add Navy SEAL and Delta Force operators to that list. I wonder if they use Bics?

I always keep one in the jet boil and one in the Fanny pack. I tried the EZ reach version but I bet and smushed the extension when I was hanging off a wall.

That is just wrong, just because it is on the list doesn't mean it is the most used or preferred. They use bics more than most would like to admit. Also comparing special forces to cops and storm troopers is worse than comparing a Bic to a glock. 😉

This weekend on a river float a Bic wouldn't spark. It had sat out all night I think, got cold/frosty. Put it in my pocket for about 30 seconds and she worked first strike. I remembered the post from the guy who was making fun of the guy who got stranded on the Colorado deer hunt, something about keestering your lighter. Anyway, I think keeping them in your pocket is a good idea.

You’ve actually ran a pen out of ink?! I thought they just dry up or get lost behind the desk or fridge and lost forever
