I won’t use third party sites. I find the hotel I want then call them or book online directly. If I find a price online through a third party site that is cheaper then the listed hotel price I have yet to not get that price directly. Refunds and changes through third party websites are hassle.

I've always had good luck with Expedia, but Travelocity and priceline are probably worth looking into as well.

You may or may not be surprised to know that expedia owns:

travelocity, VRBO, hotels.com, orbitz, hotwire, trivago and others...

I used to use Orbitz and Expedia. They're fine until you have issues and you end up on the line with someone in India.

For hotels, get the Hilton and/or IGH apps. I travel quite a bit and primarly use the Hilton chains. Their app is excellent. Mobile check in, digital key on your phone, and you can usually choose your room on your phone before you arrive. It's slick.

I always stay at either a Hilton or Best Western hotel. I normally just book direct on their website. Easier if I have to make a change to call them directly than trying to go through a third party call center in India.
