If you want something more “traditional” - mixture of synthetic motor oil and grease until you get a consistency thicker than oil but not paste. Lasts a while, it’s cheap and I’m pretty sure it’s extremely similar to Lucas oil.

I keep suppressed ARs lubricated as needed. Handguns rarely if ever (Glocks). Bolt guns - maybe the lugs. Maybe. But probably not.
