I don't carry a smart phone (opted for a Light Phone) and have no plans to go back.

That being said, when hunting unfamiliar land, I would like to get a handheld GPS with decent satellite maps. I use HuntStand on my computer so I'm ok to transfer waypoints.

Any suggestions on a quality unit? InReach, Messaging etc..nice to haves

I think I will be going with the 67i. I want a good gps with in-reach capability. I have a sat phone but it is getting way to expensive to justify. Plus I don’t want to be carrying my IPhone with me hunting.

67i would be the way I would go. I own one, and also a smart phone. The 67i has served me well when I am conserving phone battery or simply want to pretend I'm disconnected-ish.

I think the screen size of the smart phone has really cut into the stand alone GPS market. Also the better keyboard and smaller and lighter body. The 67i screen is larger than previous models but still not like a smart phone. To each is own.

I bought the 66i when it came out and have 0 complaints. Looks like the 67 is the same size just more features.

I like having a garmin for back up because in bad weather/the dark it can be difficult to tell when ONX isn’t working. It has tried to get us lost every year. With the garmin I can tell if it is off course right away and restart it if needed based on the direction of the arrow.

After much research, I'm going to upgrade from the Exploer+ to the 67i in the coming weeks.

Just waiting for the 67i to go on sale.

@eddielasvegas is the 67i suppose to go on sale soon?
I sure hope so cuz I hate paying full price for anything. :)

camelcamlcamel shows the price has dropped to ~$500 a couple times over the past year so I'm holding out for that.

I'll post an update here if I find a decent price ($500-$550) below the normal $600.

I use a garmin gpsmap 64 because I wanted something that lasts more than 1h, doesn't break when falling down and has no problem with rain. Very handy when riding somewhere unknown or checking if a road actually goes somewhere.
Also I wanted to have buttons instead of touchscreen.

Just recently garmin released an updated version, gpsmap 66.
