I can neither confirm nor deny the effectiveness of hiding weapons in discreet locations at airports. All I can say is I have never lost a knife by doing this. After parking at the airport lot for a very early flight I had to sprint back to the shuttle to put a new multi-tool (gift from my kids) back in my truck. On the shuttle ride back to the terminal a farm supply rep told me that 8 out of 10 flights he takes he drops his knife in the flower planter at the terminal door. It's always there when he returns. He said if I wouldn't take his, he won't take mine.
I've hidden mine beneath a trashcan outside of security a time or two.I can neither confirm nor deny the effectiveness of hiding weapons in discreet locations at airports. All I can say is I have never lost a knife by doing this.

I'm carrying one now. Broke the tip of the blade off digging something out of drywall.Kershaw Ken Onion gets my vote. Never a better pocket knife.
I used to have this philosophy until I found myself actually needing to use my knife on a regular basis. I had the K.O. Blur for years and really liked it (I also broke the tip off!). Then I started having a need to break down cardboard boxes on a regular basis and that knife would not hold up to that. I found myself having to give it serious attention every week or 2.I'm carrying one now. Broke the tip of the blade off digging something out of drywall.
I ground a new tip on it and still carry it.
I refuse to spend more then $40 on an EDC knife because I lose or break them.
There are plenty of great $40 or less knives out there.
