Best energy drink for long drive ahead

I drink Spark whenever I need energy drinks on long trips. It comes in a tub with 42 servings of powder which I just mix with water. I've been using it for a few years and think it's one of the best. I also like the MtnOps Yeti and Blaze which I use during the day for energy and pre-workout. I haven't used them for long trips at night though so I can't say exactly how they work for that. I'm not a doctor but I'm told that these products are a better for me than the standard energy drinks.

+1 again on leaving at night,
also when I used to chew, putting a big dip in always kept me awake, it's tempting to buy a can when I leave Monday

Oh boy this for sure..... Chew was always a a guarantee, been off it for a few years but a long roadie it becomes tempting. I succumbed last year and bought a tin, thankfully didn't fall off the wagon and was able to stay off it when I got home. don't tell the mrs.

my finest performance involved driving from southwest Virginia to Denver right after college. 22 hrs stopping only for gas. Fueled entirely by red bull, cigarettes, and good music.

I once drove from Houston to Seattle in two days alone.

First stretch was 28 hours and 1700 miles to Twin Falls ID.

Had to stop when the hallucinations started. Stopped on the side of the dark freeway. Ended up dialing 911 in a panic and hanging up.

Then gathered my shit for the last 20 miles into town for a hotel room.

That was a combo of Nuun tabs, 5Hour Energy, Adderol and chew.

Sounds like that would be the highlight of my trip, but I would probably just get a motel room and sleep the night..

Here you go...You should have plenty of good music...'cause good music improves almost any situation. If you like audio books, listen to an audio book.

But...have a clean cooler filled with ice and some sort of insulated go-cup. It is virtually impossible to fall asleep with an ice cube in your mouth. Don't chew the ice cubes. Just pop one in your mouth and hold it. You'll be surprised at how effective it can be and when you make a stop, you don't have caffeine or anything else interfering with a cat nap.

I still drink coffee...'cause I have three kids and coffee is wonderful, but I'm not pounding by the potful. I usually drink less coffee when travelling.

Similar to ice cubes but also try those old fireball candies. We had a guy at work that was borderline narcoleptic and he always had those in his mouth when driving.

Looks like about 1250 miles, give or take.

I've done that a few times. Set off about 6 pm, and arrived about noon the next day.

Along the way I subsisted on coffee, PBJ's, apples, bananas, and potato chips.

I'm not sure what to suggest in place of coffee, I don't drink any of the modern 'energy drinks'. If you are accustomed to them, I'd say whatever you are used to.

I started working long hours about 5 years ago. Sometimes we will work 26 hours then have a 4 hour drive back to the yard. I will work 20 hours then make an 18 hour drive to Colorado to hunt. Lots of different stuff like that.

The best there is that I have found is bronkaid+200mg caffeine. It will prop me up for 8+ hours after being awake for 30 hours. It's cheap and works great. Just make sure you have a gallon of water handy cause it makes you thirsty. I don't drink coffee or energy drinks at all.

Regards, Branden

Reminds me of college snow goose hunting trips, hallucinating geese over I-80.

We can't stop here! This is goose country!

These days I like the extra strength 5 hours and the monster "rehabs".

I have worked long hours for 10 years now and eating right helps me more than anything. Lots of salad, veggies, fruits, and have something to snack on helps as well. I am a coffee drinker (drink way to much), but I have found a power nap followed by getting out and walking around and stretching helps. I know guys that have wrecked from falling asleep behind the wheel. I have been damn lucky I haven't because I have woke up in the median with sod flying 60 ft in the air! My wife and kids along with other families drive the same highways and I don't risk it anymore. I pull over, nap, stretch and continue.

I usually hit my wall around 13 hours. Nearly 100% of the time I keep driving, regret it, and say to myself, "next time I'm getting a motel". I think coffee is the best bet for me.

This trip, I really think I am going to pull over at a motel about 11 hours in. That way I'll wake up and be fresh the next day.

Like I said i'm a retired truck driver. I'd do a round trip from California to New York in 6 days. Get 1 day off and do it again. Yes, I ran solo. Not legal at all, but we all did it and had two log books. One that looked legal and a real one for the boss.

Only two??? Amateur :D I kid. I do remember the game though. I'm pretty sure I'm immune to caffeine, in drinks at least. I do remember the good ole days of yellow jackets and all that ephedrine stuff. That stuff worked and I wouldn't really notice until I stopped for fuel and I was shaking.

Anyway, for me it's seeds and other things to keep me occupied. I'll drink some energy drinks but I could pound one and fall right asleep. I also find that stopping for a little while to get out of the car helps. Take your camera and get come cool photos of the stars.
