Hey guys, need something for charging iphone 5. Everything else is AA batteries or 18650 for my zebra light. Doubt one charger will do all of it. iPhone is only for pairing with delorme Inreach. Appreciate your input as always. Keep it together, rob.

I just picked up the New Trent off recommendations from some guys on here. Only used on one trip out so far but stupid simple and fairly cheap. Plus its water proof and shock proof so that helps when mother nature is being a biotch..

This is the one I grabbed:

I have charged my phone 3-4 times and it still showing 3 lights which I think means its still around 50-75% charge.

If they have USB chargers checkout the new Brunton hydrogen charger. I haven't used it but it looks very interesting.

New Trent for me as well, based on recommendations from this site, been very happy with it. Have used it backpacking and on road trips with the family.

I just picked up one of these on a whim. By my scale it is 5 oz (142g) and it looks like it should be a winner. It is made in China, so not really happy about that, but it has a LIon the solar panel charges, then you charge your phone from the battery. It also has three crappy LEDs across the top for use as a "flashlight", but I guess it may work as a small tent lamp in the Megatarp.

I will be testing it out on a couple of multiday turkey trips in the next couple of weeks.

I have the Goal Zero Switch 8 as it was the smallest panel as I wanted it for backpack trips. These charge a special battery (not the phone directly) so I used it last year and simply charged my phone overnight and it worked well. I have a Samsung Note 2 so the battery is much bigger than an iphone and from my tests, it would charge my battery about 50-60%. I was told it would charge a normal phone battery easy like 2 times with one fully charged goal zero battery. My buddy also used it to charge his phone a couple times as I usually keep mine in Airplane mode so it doesn't drain too much that way. I also just bring along an extra battery and I think I can make that work forever basically so no limit to how long I can keep things charged. I can't compare it to anything else but it has worked well for me.

I have a New Trent. It does what it says it will do unlike most I have tried.

I know this is an old thread but I have been looking into an External Battery and came across this thread. Is there a reason when I try to go to New Trents website there are no external batteries? Also amazon doesn't have much available from them either. Just curious because they seem to the the most recommended on here but I can't find one.

I only see one person on Amazon selling the PowerPak Extreme for $120...the articles I've looked at said retail should be closer to $60. I also looked on the New Trent website and I don't see any chargers at all on their page...are they done making chargers?? I have an older one (bought in 2012) that is great but the only problem is that it requires a wall outlet to recharge -- I want another one that can be recharged by a USB so that I can use my Goal Zero to recharge it.

I did come across these on Amazon...anybody know anything about them?

My company just provided us with a product called Juno Jumpr as a Christmas gift. Kind of a neat charger that will actually jump your car. I'd like an external pack with more juice (it's only 6,000 mAh).
